Today is Sunday, so there are a lot of people visiting Shirakawa-go.
The long line of cars makes you have to look for a parking spot all the time.
If you are bringing a car, it would be better to come early in the morning.

Stepping back in time in Shirakawago
Visiting Wada House in Shirakawago is like stepping back in time! It's this gassho-zukuri farmhouse that was turned into a museum about the rural life in that village. If you love Japanese culture and history, you’ve got to visit Shirakawago.
I gotta tell you, the village looks straight outta a fairytale. The roof is covered in thatched straw and the wooden beams are sturdy. Inside, you'll find all these cool old artifacts and antique furniture from the Wada family. It's like they froze time!
But wait, it gets better. The surroundings are so stunning! Imagine going there in winter when everything's covered in fluffy white snow. It's like a dreamland. I visited in May, so it was all green, but the village still looked beautiful nevertheless.
If you're into history or just wanna escape the city chaos, you gotta check out the Shirakawago Wada House. It's a chill spot to soak up some Japanese rural vibes and appreciate the pure beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage gem.

A visit to Shirakawa-go in Spring
#wecreate
A UNESCO World Heritage site in Gifu, Japan, the Japanese village is known for their traditional Gassho-zukuri houses amidst the mountains and greenery and the traditional rural village feel. A total of over 100 of such houses are in the Ogimachi village and many of the houses are still lived by the locals, and some converted to restaurants, cafes, and souvenir stores. Do leave at least around 2 to 3 hours to walk around the village, including visiting the Ogimachi Observatory for a view of the village.

Shirakawako Shirakawa-go is one of the oldest farming villages in Japan, located in the middle of a valley in Gifu Prefecture in the central part of Honshu Island. It is a village rich in natural beauty and full of long-standing history. It is a small village surrounded by mountains and a river flowing through it.
🇯🇵🌧I like Shirakawako in winter the most.
Because of the soft, white snow, no matter where you look or take a picture from any angle, it is beautiful and mellow.
I believe that many people who love traveling in Japan must have "Shirakawa-go Village" on their top list of tourist attractions.
⛺A small village full of charm attracts tourists from all over the world to visit at all times, especially in winter. This is the time that many tourists are waiting for because the white snow will cover the entire village, giving a very good atmosphere of ancient Japan. There is also a winter festival where the entire village will be filled with lights at night called the Shirakawago Light Up.
Winter, from December to February, is the time that many tourists are waiting for because the white snow will cover the entire village. It gives a great atmosphere of ancient Japan. There is also a winter festival where the whole village is lit up at night.

There are NO words towards the beauty
If we talk about dream villages that you must visit at least once, Shirakawa-go is one of them! small farmer village Among the valleys along the Shogawa River that looks like it came straight out of a painting. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995.
Just stood and looked at it with my own eyes. Still can't explain how beautiful it is! Gassho-style house that are more than 200-300 years old, lined up along Ogimachi Village, the main village here. Some houses are shops, restaurants, homestays, or even shrines. Every corner is charming and changes according to the season.
This time we went at the end of January. The weather is shockingly cold. But very lucky Because it is the time of the Light-up Festival, the village turns on the lights in the evening. Beautiful as if in a fairy tale
And of course… have to go back! But next time it's summer, I want to see another side of Shirakawago that's different!#travel #japantrip #nagoya

Shirakawa-go, an ancient village with cherry blossom atmosphere
#Sakura2024 "Shirakawa-go", a small village in the middle of a valley, surrounded by nature. This place was recognized as a world heritage site in 1995. It is a popular tourist destination that can be visited in every season. You will find different beauty.
The highlight of the houses here is the "Gasso-zukuri" style. The word "Gasso" means "Put your hands together" because the roof of the house looks like 2 hands put together and the roof slope is 60 degrees. So when the snow falls on the roof of the house, it will flow down easily and not accumulate too much.
In April of every year, there will also be cherry blossoms blooming here.

Shirakawago is a traditional village located in Gifu prefecture, Japan. I visited during Christmas time in December 2022 and it turned out one of the best experiences! The whole village is covered with snow and it’s soooo beautiful! ❄️☃️ the area is not too big so you can walk around easily and moreover, if you have time you can walk up the hill to see the village from above as well. You will be impressed with the view.
Getting here can be by bus from Takayama. Enjoy!!!#shirakawago #gifu #japan
