You can feel the history
Tomioka Silk Mill is a World Heritage Site built as a modern factory representing the Meiji era.
It is said that it is extremely rare to find a facility where buildings and machinery from over 150 years ago have been so well preserved, so you can really feel the history.
There are several parking lots in the area.
If you park in a municipal parking lot, you can receive a discount on admission.
The atmosphere changes completely as soon as you step inside.
There are various exhibits, each with a detailed explanation, allowing you to deepen your insight into Japan's modernization.
There are many silk products available as souvenirs, so they are recommended for those who like silk.
[Gunma Tomioka] A stylish gelato shop with a wide variety of gelato🍨
I went to KUTUROGI, a delicious gelato shop near Tomioka Silk Mill 🍨
There were over 20 varieties, so it was hard to choose...
I ordered a double, pistachio and praline 🥄
The pistachio flavor was strong, and the praline had a crunchy texture of nuts and caramel, and it was delicious!!!
The shop was decorated with dried flowers and had lots of glassware, which was cute 🌷
It's on the way from Tomioka Silk Mill to the parking lot, so after you've finished your tour, I recommend going there 👀
There are a few terrace seats, but it's also nice to walk around the area while eating 👣

[Gunma Tourism] Enjoy the magnificent panorama of the Kanto Plain!
Myogi Shrine is located at the eastern foot of Mt. Myogi in Tomioka City.
Known as the god of good fortune, business prosperity, fire prevention, academic success, matchmaking, and agricultural mulberry silkworms, it attracts many worshippers from inside and outside the prefecture.
In recent years, it has also been used as a location for the historical drama series, making it a popular tourist spot.

Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture. The town where the Tomioka Silk Mill is located is retro and fun to walk around!
There are many shops that look like they were renovated from old houses.
CO-JIRO is one of them.
The cat motif is also cute 🐈⬛
The Obanzai meal made with ingredients from Gunma Prefecture was healthy and delicious.

Tomioka Silk Mill
#TomiokaSilkMill #ShibusawaEiichi
Tomioka Silk Mill is a government-run model factory that supported Japan's industry during the Meiji era, and is currently a World Heritage Site in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture.
Brunat, a French foreign employee, supervised the factory. The first factory manager was Odaka Atsutada, a relative of Shibusawa Eiichi, who also appears in the 2021 Taiga drama.
The factory is divided into an area that is like a museum and an area that has been left as it was in the past, allowing you to learn about history while experiencing it for yourself.
I came by car this time, but there are many parking lots, and you can also get there by train.
There are souvenir shops and local shops lined up around the factory, and all of the shops are old, so you can really feel the local tradition.

Ikaho Onsen: 7 Must-See Sightseeing and Gourmet Spots
If you visit Ikaho Onsen, there are plenty of tourist spots and gourmet spots to explore in addition to the hot springs. The exotic Bukkou-san Hosui-ji Temple is a healing space with beautiful Taiwanese Buddhist architecture that will give you a sense of the extraordinary. Mizusawa Kannon Temple, a short drive away, is a historic temple with a hexagonal hall that symbolizes the six realms of reincarnation, and is a place to soothe the soul.
If you're hungry, you can't miss the specialty Mizusawa Udon at Osawaya. The chewy noodles and refined broth are exquisite, and you can enjoy it both hot and cold. If you're looking for something a little more fun, return to your childhood at Totoro Bus Stop and take a commemorative photo. At the nearby Konnyaku Park, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat konnyaku and a factory tour, making it a fun spot for both adults and children.
If you go a little further, you'll also find the World Heritage site Tomioka Silk Mill. The buildings that retain the appearance of the Meiji era will give you a real feel for Japan's modernization. And to finish off your trip, head to the "Stone Steps Street," a symbol of Ikaho. It's a special time to stroll around and smell the hot springs while feeling the retro atmosphere of the hot spring town.

A museum full of exciting exhibitions
#springwander
The facility is full of exciting exhibits, such as a life-size moving model of a tyrannosaurus that revives the powerful appearance of dinosaurs, and a skeleton specimen of a giant Camarasaurus. Among other things, the diorama that reproduces the rich nature of Gunma makes you feel as if you are there. In the exhibition that reproduces the excavation site, you can witness the precious moment of how dinosaur fossils are found through the glass floor. I feel like I'm also participating in the excavation work.
[Gunma] Tomioka Silk Mill, a symbol of Japan's Industrial Revolution
#Spring0yenTrip
The Tomioka Silk Mill is a World Heritage Site, recognized for its historical value as a place symbolizing Japan's industrial revolution during the Meiji era. After a leisurely ride on the Joshin Dentetsu line from Takasaki, we arrived and were amazed by the old-fashioned buildings and sophisticated equipment. In particular, the area exhibiting the silk-reeling process conveyed the technical capabilities and efforts of the craftsmen at the time, giving us a glimpse of Japan's development at the time. The area around the silk mill has a quiet and calm atmosphere, and it was a valuable place where we could feel the depth of history and take a firm look at the progress of modernization.

💞Reasons why I recommend it: I went for the first time, and I learned that the World Heritage Site is not just the Tomioka Silk Mill, but three surrounding facilities!
Among them, I visited the silk mill building, which is being repaired and maintained.
I was lucky with the time of day, and was able to go around with the guide's explanation. (200 yen)
I wonder how they will maintain the seamless pillars in the future, and I wonder if I am seeing a sight that will not be seen in 100 years.
It was a valuable experience.

**Tomioka Silk Mill)**
The happiest part of 2024 was going to Gunma! The Tomioka Silk Factory is a World Cultural Heritage Site, which showcases the history of the Japanese silk industry. You can visit this ancient factory, learn about the silk production process, and appreciate the local crafts, which will give you a deeper understanding of Japan’s industrial history.
Gunma🇯🇵Myogi Shrine
The majestic Myogi Shrine is located at the eastern foot of Baiyun Mountain, the main peak of Myogi Mountain, which is famous for its strange rocks. Old cedar trees can be seen growing in the area. Since ancient times, it has been famous for enshrining gods for good luck, business prosperity, academic achievement, relationship, farming and silkworms, and has attracted many believers from the Kanto region to come and worship. Starting with the main shrine, Karamon Gate, and Somon Gate, which are designated as important cultural properties by the country, the buildings built from the early to mid-Edo period in the area tell of the rich Edo style and grandeur. The beauty of traditional Japanese architecture can be seen everywhere in the area, including huge stone walls about ten feet high and covered with moss. The Treasure Hall (formerly the Palace Hall) displays the treasures of the Suta Shrine. From here you can see the endless Kanto Plain, which also creates a perfect Japanese-style borrowed landscape garden. #2024TravelReview

[Tomioka Silk Mill] An impressive journey into history and technology, even in the crowded streets!
When I visited Tomioka Silk Mill during the Obon holidays, it was crowded with people, but it was still a fun spot!
The technology of the silk mill, which supported the modernization of Japan during the Meiji era, is interesting and impressive even today.
The buildings and equipment from that time have been carefully preserved on the large grounds, allowing me to experience the amazing technology of the past.
The guides and exhibits are easy to understand, so even if you're not a history buff you can still enjoy it.
You may have to wait a little when it's busy, but it was a fulfilling time learning about history.
If you're interested in history or industrial heritage, be sure to visit!

[Gunma] Tomioka Silk Mill
Tomioka Silk Mill was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2014✨
It was actually in operation until 1987🏭
The site is quite large, and there are many things to see and do, from exhibits that teach the history of Tomioka Silk Mill to demonstrations of making thread from actual silkworm cocoons, so it's fun to look around! !
The buildings from that time have been left as they are, and you can see traces of the mill's use inside.
It's so large that it would take about 2-3 hours to explore it carefully.
You can buy light snacks near Tomioka Silk Mill, so you can take a break after the tour☕️✨

2-day, 1-night trip to Gunma
I went on a two-day trip to Gunma with my mother.
First, we went to Musashi Seika, a Japanese confectionery shop near Joshu Fukushima Station on the Joshin Dentetsu line, where we ate mango shaved ice.
After that, we went to Nukisaki Shrine, where we were overwhelmed by the nature there.
On the second day, we went to Fujimi Onsen, and then to Meiken Ranch, a place nearby where you can interact with dogs. It was very relaxing.
After that, we had roast beef salad in Takasaki before heading home.
It was a great trip.

Glamping at Myogi Green Hotel 🔭⛺️
The weather was great ☀️
From the moment we checked in, we had all-you-can-drink draft beer, sake, cocktails, and shochu, and we played badminton, had a BBQ on the terrace next to the dome tent, watched the stars, and made fried eggs and soup for breakfast on the spot, which was so luxurious ❤️
The BBQ at night was very filling and made us extremely full 😆
The breakfast was also a very elegant menu and was the best in the middle of nature 🌳
During the BBQ, even though we had put up a net, the bugs that I hate the most kept coming in through the gaps, and they were so big that it was impossible 😂 There was also a Fumakilla, so we were constantly fighting lol
The bed in the room was fluffy, and it was great to be able to enjoy nature without a TV all day, which was refreshing 😌💕Digital detox 🌿
You can also use the hotel's large public bath, so I highly recommend this place ✨
[Myogi Shrine/Gunma Prefecture] Pass through an arch of weeping cherry blossoms!
Myogi Shrine in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture
𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
Myogi Shrine is located on the middle slope of Mt. Hakuun.
It was enshrined in the second year of Emperor Senka (537) and is said to have enshrined Hakozono-Okami. (There are various theories.)
The sacred object of Myogi Shrine is Mt. Hakuun, one of the rocks that make up Mt. Myogi.
It is said to be a strange rock, and it stands tall like a wall!
In spring, you can see the "weeping cherry blossoms" that bloom in the grounds of Myogi Shrine.
The "weeping cherry blossoms" that can be seen on the approach to the shrine are 200 years old.
These cherry blossoms🌸 that hang down to the ground are like an arch, and you can pass through them as if you are passing through them. They are really beautiful.
There are also some on both sides of the Karamon Gate, and they bloom as if they are covering the ground. Just seeing the cherry blossoms blooming within the grounds is moving.
This is one shrine you definitely want to visit in the spring!

Tomioka Silk Mill
#AccommodationReview
Tomioka Silk Mill is one of Japan's modern industrial heritage sites, located in Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture, and is also registered as a World Heritage Site. Built during the Meiji period, this facility contributed greatly to the development of the modern silk industry in Japan.
By introducing Western silk-reeling technology and establishing a mechanized production system, Tomioka Silk Mill achieved the transition from traditional handicrafts to modern industry. For this reason, Tomioka Silk Mill is also said to be a symbol of Japan's industrial revolution.
Today, Tomioka Silk Mill is open to the public as a museum, where the state of the silk mill at the time, machinery, and the lives of workers are on display. Guided tours are also held within the facility, providing visitors with the opportunity to learn about the history and technology of silk-reeling.
Gunma Safari Park was amazing!
I went to the Safari Park for the first time. I was able to see the animals up close, so it was very impressive and fun♪ I feel like I was having fun, feeding them. Unfortunately, the amusement park is closed, but the Safari Park is crowded with many people after the COVID-19 pandemic. If you come by car, there is a very delicious😋 dessert shop nearby. It's a good idea to bring some coins to feed the animals!!! You can buy grass to feed the herbivores for about 100 yen. You can buy meat to feed the carnivores for about 500 yen.
There is a parking lot and it is stroller-friendly♪ Barrier-free access is also taken into consideration!

After passing through the uphill approach to the shrine, a torii gate⛩ came into view👀
When you think of a shrine,
you usually have to go up stone steps,
but it's strange to see the shrine building below your line of sight😳
The main hall and worship hall are brilliantly colored.
Don't miss the thunder god window and lion on the gable of the main hall.
I was fascinated by the unique architecture of Nukisaki Shrine 🤩
It was a very interesting shrine 🎶

❥❥History
The Mononobe clan Isobe clan started worshiping their clan deity, Futsunushi-no-kami.
It is said that the shrine was established in its current location during the reign of Emperor Ankan (531).
In 1635, the third shogun of the Edo shogunate, Tokugawa Iemitsu, ordered the construction of the main hall, worship hall, tower gate, and corridor.
The fifth shogun, Tsunayoshi, renovated the shrine to its current ornate, brilliant colors.
