Kamo Mioya Shrine in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City It is the Ichinomiya (first shrine) of Yamashiro Province, and is commonly known as Shimogamo Shrine because it is located downstream of the Kamo River. It is surrounded by trees on a vast site, and this rich nature is affectionately called "Tadasu no Mori". The deities enshrined are "Kamo Taketsunumi no Mikoto", who is said to have founded ancient Kyoto, and "Tamayorihime no Mikoto", the mother of Kamo Wakeikazuchi no Mikoto, the deity enshrined at Kamigamo Shrine. This place is pretty unique for its horses. We missed a horse show when we came here, but they have horse shows on a specific day of the month. I forgot what day it is, so you will have to check it out. Besides that, they sell fortunes in small clay shaped horses.
