A visit to Kelham Island Museum offers an engaging journey through Sheffield’s industrial past. Located on a man-made island, the museum celebrates the city’s rich history in steel production and industrial innovation. Exhibits like the working River Don Engine and displays of vintage tools, machinery, and vehicles provide a vivid picture of Sheffield’s role in the Industrial Revolution. Ping Youping lives in Sheffield~Easy hotel Sheffield City Center
#100 Ways to Travel
Easy Hotel is a sister company of the famous low-cost airline Easy Jet. There are locations in the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. And most cities in the UK, including London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, etc.....there are some like European versions of Air Asia and Tune hotel. Most importantly, the price is cheap, the regular price is expected to be less than HK$400. If you hit the big sale, half or 70% off, super cheap!
Among them, Sheffield city center is about 10 minutes walk from the train station, and most attractions are within walking distance.
Easy Hotel branded itself as a low-cost hotel, so there was nothing in the room except a bed and a small toilet and shower.
No toothbrushes and slippers (but two-in-one shower gel with shampoo and towels are provided), no tables and chairs, no kettle, no wifi. There is a TV to watch, a vending machine and a coffee machine in the lobby can be paid by the user. No gym no pool!
The cheapest rooms also have no windows but do have central air conditioning. There is an elevator and a front desk. Incidentally, though it’s a low-cost hotel. But I think the attitude of the counter staff is very good, and very safe (there is a door ban requires a card swipe to enter.

Nice
Nice is really my favourite place on the tour, staying by the sea you can watch the sunrise from your balcony in the morning and walk on the shingle beach in the evening. The neighbouring towns of Cannes and Perfume are easy to get to and each have their own character! And every town has a different beach, stone or sand, harbour or bay,I also got to experience paragliding, which was a real thrill!#beachlife #trip

UK Sheffield ~ Cutlery Works Super choice of food court
[Sheffield] ~ Cutlery Works
I went to a food court called "Cultery Works" in Sheffield some time ago. There are various restaurants, drink shops, bars and so on. The decor is very cute and there is plenty of seating. We tried the authentic tea drinks from ALS GongCha, the bubble milk tea and cheese milk cap were both delicious. They have a lot of teas to choose from on the menu! For food, we had authentic Malaysian cuisine ~ Sylok-Lah! We were amazed by the overall dining experience and the food was delicious!

Lodge Moor - WWII POW Camp
A friend and I made our way to Lodge Moor POW camp one spring. It’s not well marked or preserved in any way. However, in its hay day, it was the largest POW camp in Britain. We did some research and learned that it held about 10,000 prisoners at one point. Off all the historical places I’ve been to, I have to say, this one left the biggest impact. There was definitely a strange feeling on the site itself. Worth a visit if that history peaks your interest.

[Sheffield, UK] Sheffield's city centre shows what British architecture is all about.
The first photo is a view of Sheffield's downtown, which I especially cherish and love. England, with its good weather, is so beautiful.
I also recommend going up to Bolehills Park and watching the sunset. You can see the entire city of Sheffield at a glance. It's a great place to wrap up your day.

[Sheffield, UK] On a nice day, take a walk in the park and watch football at the pub⚽️
📍crooks valley park (2nd photo)
📍the ponderosa park (3rd photo) These two parks are just a short walk from the University of Sheffield. Maybe because it was warmer than expected that day, there were people swimming in the lake at ponderosa park. I like swimming, so I would have liked to have brought extra clothes😭
After walking hard, we arrived at 📍the cavendish pub just in time for soccer.
Here, I was greeted with my life beer, ‘Strongbow’..🍇

[Sheffield, UK] patisserie valerie: French desserts in England?
While walking down Sheffield Street
I went into this place because there were a lot of desserts on display that looked delicious.
After eating, I searched and found out that it was a famous afternoon tea franchise that can be found all over England. Since it was a place that sold French desserts, there were also macarons. If you come across it while traveling around England, I recommend you go in and get some takeout.🍩

When I first planned my trip to Sheffield, I didn’t expect to fall in love with the city—but that’s exactly what happened. Tucked away in South Yorkshire, Sheffield is a city that perfectly blends industrial history with stunning natural beauty and a warm, creative spirit.
What struck me most was how green Sheffield is—it's not just a city; it's a city in a forest. Over a third of the city lies within the Peak District National Park, making it ideal for nature lovers like me. One afternoon, I hiked up to Stanage Edge, just a short drive from the city center, and the panoramic views of rolling hills and dramatic cliffs literally took my breath away.
But it’s not all countryside. The Kelham Island area completely blew me away with its blend of old warehouses turned into trendy cafes, pubs, and art spaces. I loved grabbing a locally brewed beer at Kelham Island Brewery, followed by dinner at The Cutlery Works, a buzzing food hall that showcases Sheffield’s indie food scene.
The Winter Garden is another highlight—a massive glasshouse filled with exotic plants right in the city center. It was the perfect spot to take a quiet break and soak in the laid-back atmosphere of the city.
Best time to visit? I’d recommend late spring (April–June) or early autumn (September–October) when the weather is mild and the parks are bursting with color.
Travel tip: Sheffield is incredibly walkable and well-connected by trams and buses. If you’re staying for a few days, get a TravelMaster pass to save money on public transport.
Sheffield may not be as hyped as London or Manchester, but that’s what makes it special. It’s authentic, welcoming, and full of surprises—and I’m already planning my next visit.

A Hidden Gem in England’s Heartland - Sheffield
#sheffieldtrip
Sheffield wasn’t always on my travel radar, but after spending a weekend there, I can say it’s one of the UK’s most underrated cities. Nestled in South Yorkshire, Sheffield offers the perfect blend of urban charm, industrial heritage, and breathtaking natural beauty.
What stood out the most to me? The contrast. One moment I was walking through the lush landscapes of the Peak District National Park, just a 20-minute drive from the city center, and the next I was admiring cutting-edge street art in the Kelham Island district while sipping locally brewed craft beer. The duality made my trip unforgettable.
I stayed near Ecclesall Road, a bustling area with great food, cozy cafes, and indie shops. I highly recommend brunch at Tamper Coffee, a local favorite with New Zealand vibes, and if you're a fan of quirky pubs, The Rutland Arms is a must-visit. For culture, the Millennium Gallery and Winter Garden downtown offer free, peaceful spaces to explore local art and exotic plants under a massive glass dome.
If you're planning your trip, the best time to visit is late spring through early autumn (May–September). The weather is pleasant, festivals are in full swing, and the nearby countryside is vibrant and green. I went in early June, which gave me plenty of daylight for walking tours, gallery hopping, and even a spontaneous hike in Stanage Edge.
Bonus Tip: Download the “Sheffield Walking App” – it’s free and helps you navigate historical and scenic routes.

Steel and Serenity: Why Sheffield Stole My Heart
#sheffieldtrip
#stunningview #localguides
When people think of English cities to explore, Sheffield isn’t always at the top of the list—and that’s exactly why it feels like such a hidden treasure. Nestled between seven hills and bordered by the stunning Peak District, Sheffield is a unique blend of gritty industrial charm, green serenity, and fiercely creative energy.
What struck me most during my visit was just how green the city is. Over 250 parks and woodlands dot the cityscape, and no matter where you are, you’re never far from nature. I spent my mornings wandering through the Botanical Gardens, where exotic plants and Victorian glasshouses made for peaceful starts to the day. In the afternoon, I found myself hiking in the nearby Peak District National Park—an absolute must if you have a love for the outdoors. Just a short bus ride from the city center, it offers jaw-dropping views, quaint villages, and proper Yorkshire tea rooms.
But Sheffield isn’t just about nature. It’s a city with deep roots in music, art, and culture. The Kelham Island Museum gave me a glimpse into its proud steel-making heritage, while the street art and galleries like Millennium Gallery revealed its modern creative pulse. And don’t even get me started on the music scene—this is the hometown of Arctic Monkeys, after all!
Best Time to Visit:
Late summer or early autumn (August to September) is perfect. The weather’s mild, the trees start to turn golden, and the local festivals kick in—like Tramlines, Sheffield’s biggest music event.
Location Tip:
Stay near Division Street or Ecclesall Road for easy access to independent cafes, vintage shops, and the city’s best nightlife.
Bonus Tip:
Head to Abbeydale Picture House, a restored 1920s cinema, for a film screening or quirky event. It’s got that old-school charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

#sheffieldtrip
Millennium Gallery
The Millennium Gallery is connected to the Winter Garden, so we visited them together. There are three not-so-large exhibition halls with different themes; you can check the official website for details.
The most impressive for me was the hall showcasing the history of Sheffield metal products, featuring various tableware🍴, knives🔪, afternoon tea sets like teapots🫖 and milk-pouring cups, and intricately carved scissors, exuding a strong British aristocratic vibe.
Afterwards, you can also explore the surrounding shops, where there are many souvenirs like postcards, pins, and canvas bags.

Sheffield's Peace Gardens is so Peaceful🥰😍
#sheffieldtrip
There are actually many routes to the top of the Peak District. It is recommended to download "AllTrails" to understand the route. If you use Google Maps to navigate to "Bamford Edge", the guided walking route is what everyone in other notes calls the "gentle slope" route. The entire route is a road that can be used by cars. After climbing over a small fence, you will start to climb the mountain. The slope is not steep and you can reach the ridgeline in about 20 minutes.

Winter Garden
It is a constant temperature park, said to have 2,500 plant species, and there is a cafe in the garden. When I went there, there was plenty of sunshine, and it looked super beautiful through the glass skylight.
The Peace Gardens
A local place to bask in the sun and watch pigeons, suitable for friends who are dazed and air defense. After dazed here, you can walk forward to go shopping and eat something.
