Shanghai Natural History Museum 🦕✨
This is one of the most spectacular museum in Shanghai where the exhibits are housed within a 5 storey building. A great place especially if you love dinosaurs. Very well maintained, neat and foreigner-friendly with a very helpful staff. A lot of species were titled with their biological names in English and not the common name. 🤔
Almost everything is written in both Chinese and English so there's no problem in visiting without a local friend. There are also a few stores within the museum. The one in B2 felt unnecessarily expensive. There are restaurants, Ice cream bars and kiosks for drinks everywhere within the place. 💦
There are many sections and categories of arts, animals Biological specimen and sciences. Spend a day over there is like learn things around the world. Thumbs up! 👍🏻❤️

This is one of the unique center I've come across in Shanghai with artistic design and a mix of huge 🃏 toys. The restaurants around this building are mainly of Japanese cuisine, so if you're someone into Sushi and yakitori 🍖 I'd highly recommend to go visit this place. Also to mention there's a nice chocolate 🍫 store of Japanese origin, which has great varieties to try out. #urbanexplorer#tripblazers#summervacation

Shanghai Natural History Museum
Address: Jing'an Sculpture Park, Jing'an District, China, 200041.
Highlights: The Shanghai Natural History Museum is one of the biggest natural history museums in China. It is constructed in the shape of a green spiral shell. It is famous for its technologically advanced and environmentally friendly construction.
This museum serves as an essential platform for popular science education and cultural exchange. It consists of a total of five floors. I would recommend you to start at the top floor and walk their way down to the last floor underground. The River of Life is located on L1, where people can participate in a party of prehistoric and current creatures, and meet the biggest mammal in the world – the blue whale. 😬
Opening hours: 9am to 5.15pm daily, closed on Monday
Admission fee: CNY30 for adults, CNY12 for child

National History Museum in Shanghai
The Shanghai Natural History Museum is a museum for natural history of our planet in the city of Shanghai. It is one of the largest museums of natural history in China.
I learned that the museum has more than 25000 pieces, animals, skeletons, maps, historic documents, fossils etc. What is very interesting about it is, that it was founded 1958 already, so some parts of the museum are part of history again.
The first floor is the most interesting, it has big scelettons of animals and bilingual infographics about the history of our world. The exhibitions on the other floor varies from time to time.

Informative museum for both kids and adults
#shinsider
One of the better natural history museums in China this is pretty diverse, interesting and easy to understand. Lots of information available via QR codes (mainly in Chinese)
Good place for kids and familes. Ticket can be bought through wechat or onsite.
I highly recommend to visit on weekdays as it is not crowded. So you can slowly walk through all the exhibitions and see more.
Allocate at least half a day or more here. Unless you specifically target certain section to see, it is not possible to complete the museum tour in 1 or 2 hour. There is a gift shop in the museum and a cafe should you need to rest your feet here.

Great museum in Shanghai
One of the better natural history museums in China this is pretty diverse, interesting and easy to understand. Lots of information available via QR codes (mainly in Chinese). It has a several exhibitions here and you can easily spend a few hours here, especially good on rainy days.
The stuffed animals and dinosaur sections were my particular favorite, the lion had a hysterical look on its face. You can meander around slowly and enjoy it at your own pace.
Good place for kids and familes. Ticket can be bought through wechat or onsite. Passport is needed to buy tickets.

One of the nicest natural history museum
Getting there: on metro Line 13, exit 1
This is one of the nicest natural history museum in Asia I have visited. The museum has 5 stories.
It has a huge collection of dinosaurs well laid-out. So if you are into animal, natural history kind, you will be amazed by its collection here. Perfect place for kids too.
Everything is well-documented in English so you don’t have to worry about language barrier. There’s also a restaurant and a souvenir shop in this museum.
It’s good to plan ahead so that you know which sections of the museum interests you and just focus on that floor. Otherwise, you won’t be able to visit all in one day.

Beautiful Museum in Shanghai
I visited the Natural History Museum in Shanghai and it did not disappoint!
My friends and I spent a day at the museum and loved taking the day to learn about all sorts of cool animal facts and history of the world. The displays here are very well done. I especially enjoyed the safari room which included a show that made the entire exhibit transition from day to night. They also had an arctic themed section which was quite fascinating.
I highly recommend a visit here if you live in or are visiting Shanghai! :)

Shanghai Natural History Museum
I absolutely love museums so when I finally got to visit the Natural History Museum, I was kind of excited!
Entry to the museum is 30RMB and you purchase tickets through WeChat at the entrance.
Once inside you can easily spend 2-3 hours just wandering. The museum exhibits are huge! The largest area is taken up by the animal models which ranges from dinosaurs to under water creatures. Some models are animatronic so be ready to hear the cry of an animal. There’s also a butterfly exhibit inside the main area, from the outside of this room you can see all of the colours and styles of different butterflies.
History of animal life is below, just keep following the main route and you’ll see every part.
The gift shop is pretty interesting, magnets and gems are available to buy as well as stuffed animal teddies.

Roam the Shanghai Natural History Museum
The Shanghai Natural History Museum (a branch of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum) is located in the Jing'an Sculpture Park in Shanghai. The exhibition theme of the Shanghai Natural History Museum is 'Nature, Humanity, Harmony', with 'Evolution' as the main thread, explaining the relationships in the natural world.
The architectural design of the Shanghai Natural History Museum is inspired by the shell structure of a 'spiral', with the spiraling green-planted roof rising gently from within the park, and the dynamic building resembles a 'green spiral'.
Robbie Schmidt
Shanghai Natural History Museum
The architectural design of the Shanghai Natural History Museum is inspired by the "nautilus", coupled with lush vegetation, it is colloquially known as the "Green Spiral".
There are tens of thousands of animal specimens and models, including dinosaurs, various ancient animals, and the human evolutionary process, which are very complete and informative.

Shanghai Natural History Museum | Weekend Parent-child Tour Guide
Transportation:
The transportation is very convenient, it's right outside the Natural History Museum subway station on Line 13!
The ticket price is 30 yuan, super cost-effective!
📝Note tips:
During the summer vacation, you need to book tickets online in advance. We rushed there without a proper guide and wasted a trip. You need to book online a week in advance, the museum is closed on Mondays. You can grab tickets for the next week early Wednesday morning, if you're late there won't be any left. We wasted a trip on Tuesday and quickly grabbed a few tickets after 12 o'clock at night.
It took a long time to queue up, about 30 minutes, and you can swipe your ID card directly inside.
Exhibition content:
There's a lot to see, mainly animals, but also insects, marine life, plants, etc! A few floors are enough to play for an afternoon!
Exhibition highlights:
Big dinosaur, it's said to be a 1:1 restoration, very realistic, it can also move and make sounds.

Shanghai Natural History Museum | Take a look at the story of this planet, past and present
Highly recommended!! (Especially suitable for parents to bring their children for science popularization)
The museum itself is also a great building, designed by the American architectural firm Perkins&Will. The architectural form is inspired by the nautilus, organized around a sunken water landscape courtyard. The facade pattern is like the porous structure of animals and plants, as a whole suggesting the changing crustal plates and the canyon form eroded by rivers.
The museum has a total of 5 floors. The visit starts from the second floor above ground, gradually progressing, revolving around the traffic courtyard full of daylight until the third floor underground. The exhibition itself is also very well integrated with various exhibits, with both interactive and experiential parts, as well as a wide range of organized categories, and the restoration of scenes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the rhythm of billions of years ago.
📝Note tips:
Buy tickets online, remember to bring your ID to the scene, otherwise you need to exchange for paper tickets.
Seats are set up everywhere for everyone to rest, and there are restaurants in the venue specifically providing food, as well as special creative ice cream. If you need, you can check in.

Shanghai | Suzhou River, Jing'an Suhe Bay, morning!
✅"Rainy season in every household". On the bank of the Suzhou River, the morning after the "violent plum", the natural freshness is particularly unbearable.
✅After the baptism of heavy rain, the full and seemingly calm river water is surging, slightly turbid, exuding a slight smell of silt, carrying sporadic garbage, flowing quickly.
✅Pass through JiC Jing'an International Center, cross the arch bridge that leaps like a curved bow shooting eagle, to West Suzhou Road, from 1500 meters in Jing'an Suhe Bay, to the 0 meter point.
📍The embankments on both sides of the river protect the river channel seamlessly, resolving the threat of floods to the city. The landscape promenade along the river is said to have been fully connected, starting from the intersection of Wusong River and Yunzao Bin in Anting, passing through Hongqiao, Changning, Putuo, Jing'an, Huangpu, to the Waibaidu Bridge, connecting with the Bund and North Bund.
📍Jing'an section. The banks are high-rise buildings and their reflections, hiding green trees, lawns, and flower beds, classic urban scenery. Bridges of various shapes not only connect the two banks, but also play a role in enriching the landscape, especially at night, with neon lights flashing and colorful, which is very beautiful.
📍Banana trees grow in the river embankment, they are delicate and dripping, contrasting with the iron bones of the building, as if they have also softened a lot. Small gardens everywhere, various art installations, sculptures, embellish the walkway, there are targets for looking around, and walking alone is not lonely. There are also basketball courts and Mini football fields, early middle-aged people entertain themselves, sweat profusely, great!
✅At the 0 meter point, it is the cross-river bridge of the north-south elevated road, which gives a reason to bypass the Shanghai Natural History Museum and take a look at a piece of the old concession. The area of Xinzha Road, Datian Road, and Shimen Second Road, old apartments, old churches, and old street fronts still exist, as well as the earliest municipal planning markets. In the 1930s, as the underground party, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had multiple organs here, leaving red footprints, the sparks of stars, and finally prairie fires.
📍Cross Hengfeng Road Bridge, turn back on Guangfu Road, the mileage of Jing'an Suhe Bay, starting from 2500 meters, moving forward to larger numbers (a bit dizzy).
📍People come and go, endlessly. Perhaps it is a working day, running, walking, dancing, doing exercises, walking babies, walking dogs, mostly middle-aged people like Aunt Ben, and old people with white hair, people and scenery blend together, the appearance of peace in time. Time flows like the water of the Suzhou River, into the Huangpu River, there is only one choice to flow eastward into the sea, and every bit of the present is more cherished.
📍Paradise of water birds. Herons flock, sometimes skimming the water, sometimes stopping in a row, people and nature coexist harmoniously, even in big cities.
✅Surrounding attractions:
JiC Jing'an International Center A very modern group of buildings, the structure and light and shadow are very film-like, modern office buildings and malls. The transformation of an old red brick house from a former flour mill, Blue Bottle Coffee and Suhejiang Banquet lead the two extreme internet celebrity temperaments here, and the large cartoon characters by the river are very film-like.
Jing'an Sculpture Park Shanghai Natural History Museum The present of the old concession on the south bank of the Suzhou River.
Dayang Jingdian·Tianan Qianshu Walk north on West Suzhou Road, a new internet celebrity created with a unique architectural style.

Exploring Nature | Shanghai Natural History Museum
☀️Museums are great places to visit on weekends, there are many museums in Shanghai, including cultural, technological, and historical ones, you can always find treasures, this time we came to Shanghai Natural History Museum.
🚇Location and transportation: No. 510, West Beijing Road, Jing'an District, there is a Line 13 subway station next to the museum.
🦕Extinct ancient animal specimens, almost 1:1 presented, opposite is the "roaring" dinosaur model, in the sky is a huge dinosaur model, it's really shocking!
🦁The density of animal specimens is overwhelming, the antelope struggling for survival on the cliff, the birds ready to fly, the glaring golden monkey, the affectionate lion group, this is indeed very "natural" .
🦋Amazed by the beautiful butterfly specimens, various shapes of animal skin specimens, feel real, eye-opening.
🧒Suitable for bringing children to experience the evolution of nature, we should respect nature, protect nature, and live in harmony with nature!❤️❤️❤️

I would call it one of the must-visit museums in Shanghai
The Shanghai Natural History Museum is built underground, and the tour order is from top to bottom.
There are many exhibits that are overwhelming.
There will be more people at the beginning, it will be better below, remember to wear comfortable shoes.
There are many popular spots inside, suitable for taking pictures

A Wonderful Night at the Shanghai Natural History Museum
The Shanghai Natural History Museum is the largest natural history museum in China, displaying over 11,000 specimens and models from all seven continents. It vividly presents the evolution of life over 13.6 billion years, making it a great place for children to visit and learn.
As usual, before going, I had my older son read related biology books and learn about the general information of the related exhibition halls on the official website, so that he could visit with a purpose and questions.
Off we go with my 5-year-old son, 2-year-old daughter, and their parents!
For my daughter, the goal is to broaden her horizons. As for my son, he mainly wanted to see the evolution of species from the Cambrian explosion to the Cenozoic era, as well as various fossil specimens and gems.
: Tickets were booked on the official website a week in advance, with adults priced at 30 yuan per person and children under 6 free. Even free tickets need to be purchased, and remember to bring your ID for admission!
Huang's family visit route: L2 Mystery of Origin - L1 River of Life - B1 Path of Evolution - B2M Shanghai Story - B2 Ecological Wonders, Colorful Life, Earth Treasure Hunt, Human-Earth Connection, Exploration Center
Just follow the route, the museum's tour route is very reasonable. But it's too big inside, with tens of thousands of exhibits. If you want to see everything, you'll have to walk for at least 4 hours, and trying to see everything will only hurt you, haha!
If you're too tired, you can skip some halls, such as the B2M floor that talks about the history of Shanghai's development.
Recommended Hall 11F River of Life
Definitely the most popular hall, with a large number of 1:1 replicas of animal fossils and specimens gathered across time and space, both children loved it. Path of Evolution
From the Cambrian explosion of life to the dinosaur era to human evolution. Let us travel along the 'axis of time' to explore the process of biological evolution. We went in and watched a few minutes of the free movies 'Cambrian Explosion of Life' and 'The Road of Humanity'
3 B2 There are many halls, recommended Earth Treasure Hunt (various gems) and Colorful Life (specimens are here), Ecological Wonders (African grasslands)
Several popular experiential activities (with timetable attached) Butterfly House 2 Fossil Excavation 3 Seawater Touch
Remember to buy tickets at the seafood market a week in advance, you really can't get tickets on your own!!!
P: Because we brought two babies, we chose to drive and parked at the Bohua Plaza opposite (the price is quite expensive, 20/hour! It cost me 100 yuan, so I suggest you take public transportation)
Huang's downside: There are really a lot of people, so the experience might be a bit worse, but it's worth multiple visits

Shanghai | Natural History Museum·Museum
| Natural History Museum·Museum. The Shanghai Natural History Museum is located in Jing'an Sculpture Park, with a unique appearance, like a "green snail". The new museum displays tens of thousands of specimens, rich in content, among which the skeleton of the Zhongjia Mamenchisaurus is particularly eye-catching.
The new museum has five floors, two above ground and three underground. Usually, the tour starts from the second floor and goes down in order, which takes about half a day to a day. Please pay attention to the distribution of physical strength. The exhibition on the second underground floor is rich.
The permanent exhibitions in the museum are divided into three systems: natural evolution, life environment, and human civilization, including "Mystery of Origin", "River of Life", "Way of Evolution", "Wisdom of Survival", "Treasure Hunting on Earth", "Colorful Life" and other exhibition halls.
The "Mystery of Origin" hall on the second floor takes the course of human exploration of the universe as the main line, displaying models of astronomical telescopes from ancient times to the present and graphic introductions to astronomical knowledge. In a corner of the exhibition hall, you can also watch a 3D short film about meteorites.
The "River of Life" hall on the first floor classifies and displays a large number of animal specimens such as snakes, monkeys, and peacocks. The huge model of Mamenchisaurus roars and twists its neck, which is particularly realistic. Here you can experience the natural exhibition area, observe live butterflies, chameleons, jellyfish and other animals at close range through transparent display boxes; go to the seawater touch pool, you can also touch starfish, sea cucumbers, sea anemones and other marine life by hand.
"The Way of Evolution" (underground floor) presents the entire context from the Cambrian explosion of life to the appearance of humans with a variety of animal skeletons and fossils. Here you can not only see a variety of dinosaur fossils, but when you open the museum's official "augmented reality" APP and aim at the skeleton of Lufengosaurus according to the prompt, two 3D Lufengosaurus, one large and one small, will appear on the screen running towards you, as if they want to jump out of the screen and say hello to you, very cute. Friends who like dinosaurs must not miss it.
The second underground floor is the most content-rich floor in the entire museum, containing 5 themes including Wisdom of Survival, Treasure Hunting on Earth, and Colorful Life. If you look carefully at this floor, it takes a lot of time and physical strength. It is recommended to focus on the exciting parts. The "Ecological Phenomena" area uses animal specimens and model props to restore the ecological scene of the African savannah at a 1:1 ratio: on the vast African savannah, giraffes and hippos are strolling leisurely, gazelles are fleeing, a group of lions are enjoying sunbathing, it feels like watching "Animal World"; in the "Colorful Life" exhibition area, a "butterfly wing painting" made up of 1,200 butterfly wings is always a popular photo spot for visitors; the exploration center is loved by children, where they can experience the sense of achievement of digging fossils by hand, friends who are on a parent-child trip must not miss it.
At the end of the tour, you might as well go to the souvenir shop to buy some peripheral trinkets as souvenirs. The prices of these souvenirs are mostly over a hundred yuan, although the prices are a bit expensive but they are worth the money. There is a restaurant on the right side of the Mystery of Origin on the second floor, and a small coffee shop on the second underground floor. If you are tired, go and eat something. The catering prices are relatively moderate.

Spent a captivating day at the Shanghai Natural History Museum! 🦕 The 50 CNY entrance fee was a small price to pay for the incredible journey through Earth's evolution and biodiversity. 💸
The museum's location in the Jing'an Sculpture Park adds a scenic touch – the stunning architecture of the building itself is a prelude to the wonders within. 🏛️🌳
From life-size dinosaur replicas that transported me back in time to the mesmerizing displays of Earth's ecosystems, every exhibit was an immersive experience. The Fossil Hall, with its ancient treasures, was a highlight. 🌍🦖
The Butterfly Garden was a serene escape within the museum – surrounded by vibrant butterflies, it felt like stepping into a living canvas of nature. 🦋🌺
The interactive exhibits and engaging multimedia presentations kept me hooked throughout. The museum's commitment to environmental education is commendable. 📚🌿
Jing'an Park nearby is perfect for a post-museum stroll, and the Jade Buddha Temple offers a cultural contrast. Ended the day with a bite at a local eatery – the museum's location provides easy access to a variety of dining options. 🍜🛍️ #ShanghaiNatureWonders #EducationalAdventure #DinosaurDreams #CulturalExploration
