I've decided to go here this winter...
✅ Seda, known as the "world's largest Buddhist academy," is a mysterious tourist destination.
❤️ Transportation: There are direct buses from Chengdu Chadianzi Bus Terminal to Seda County. There are one or two buses every day at around 6 am. Tickets cost over CNY 200, and the journey takes about 12 hours.
✅ Tickets: The ticket policy for Seda Buddhist Academy has changed. Please check the latest information in advance.
🌸 Accommodation: There are many hotels in Seda County. We recommend choosing accommodation with heating and hot water to cope with the cold in winter. There is also accommodation in the Buddhist Academy, such as Larung Hotel, but the conditions are relatively simple.
✅ Winter travel tips:
• Seda is about 3,800 meters above sea level and has a plateau monsoon climate. The average annual temperature is around 0°C. The temperature in winter can drop to around -10°C, so you need to prepare enough warm clothes, such as down jackets, sweaters, thermal underwear, thick pants, scarves, hats, gloves, etc.
• To prevent altitude sickness, you can take Rhodiola rosea oral liquid in advance, maintain a good attitude, and avoid strenuous exercise.
• Respect local religious and cultural customs, such as not taking pictures of temples, monks, and Tibetans, and not climbing religious buildings.
🌸 Recommended travel routes:
• 3-day itinerary: Chengdu - Kangding - Tagong Grassland - Seda Larung Gar Buddhist Academy - Larung Hotel.
• Seda + Sichuan-Tibet Line 10-day tour, covering more attractions.
❤️ Food: Seda mainly serves Sichuan and Tibetan cuisine. There are restaurants with various flavors in the county, especially around Jinma Square.
✅ Other: We recommend bringing some common medicines, such as cold medicine and glucose, to deal with altitude sickness. Also, since Seda's tourist facilities are relatively simple, we recommend bringing some food and water.

2024 Hainan-Tibet-Xinjiang Self-driving Tour: Day 6 Appointment to Visit Wuming Buddhist Academy
Last night, we were really exhausted and randomly found a hotel by the roadside to sleep. In the morning, while packing up, Ken noticed a Tibetan wedding car across the street through the window. During breakfast, the restaurant owner mentioned that his wife was attending five weddings today, indicating that 8/16 is a good day in the Tibetan calendar. We quickly packed our luggage and set off, with 100 kilometers left to Seda County.
The appointment for visiting the 【Wuming Buddhist Academy】 mini-program has been suspended since June 2024, so tickets must be purchased in person at the 【Seda County Jinma Grassland Tourist Distribution Center】 with a valid ID. Generally, same-day tickets are not available unless you go early in the morning to try your luck; otherwise, you can only buy tickets for the next day.
There are two places to take the bus to Wuming Buddhist Academy: 1) The Tourist Distribution Center in Jinma County, which is also the ticket purchase point (ticket price 48 yuan); 2) The Tourist Distribution Center in Luoruo Town (ticket price 30 yuan). The former has many accommodation and dining options but is more than 20 kilometers away from Luoruo Town, while the latter is closer to Wuming Buddhist Academy. Regardless of where you choose to board, tickets must be purchased at the Jinma Grassland in Seda County, as the boarding points do not sell tickets. The departure times of the two distribution centers are different, so you need to choose clearly when buying tickets.
On the day we arrived, there was a major power outage in the entire Seda County, making it difficult to even have dinner. We found a small restaurant that could still cook, but due to the power outage, the kitchen was filled with smoke, and the chef was cooking in the dark. We ate in the smoke, which was quite choking! After dinner, we took a walk and found that the better-off shops had started diesel generators at their doorsteps, creating a cacophony of noise; the less fortunate shops could only light a candle or hang a flashlight. Tomorrow is the Ghost Festival, and the moon was very bright at night. Locals gathered at Jinma Square in the county center to dance the Guozhuang dance.
We groped our way back to the hotel room, and Ken turned on both camping lights. Ha! It was quite fun! We went to bed early! At 1 a.m., the power came back on.

Walking into the Buddhist holy land of Seda at an altitude of 4000 meters
In mid-June, I just returned from Seda
Although the travel time was relatively short
I still think this place is very good
This Buddhist academy, located on a plateau at an altitude of 4200 meters
Surrounded by magnificent snow-capped mountains and vast grasslands
Attracts monks and scholars from all over the world
They come here to study, communicate, and research Buddhist doctrines
For us, the architecture of Seda Buddhist Academy is also eye-catching
Its style is full of Tibetan characteristics, the architectural complex is neat and orderly, and the momentum is magnificent
📍Address: Located in Luoruo Town, Seda County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, navigate to Seda Buddhist Academy⛪️
🏠Accommodation: You can stay in Luoruo Town, next to the entrance of Seda Larung Gar Buddhist Academy
🎫Tickets: When I went, I could only buy the 168 yuan ticket, the 40 yuan online ticket was closed, you need to book in advance
📸Photography:
✅Seda Tancheng: You can follow the monks and walk around the Tancheng three times clockwise on each level
✅Observation Deck: 300 meters up from the Tancheng, there is an observation deck where you can overlook the entire Seda Buddhist Academy⛪️
✅Seda Night View: The night view🌃 is also very impressive, you can take the bus🚌 out after sunset, the latest is 9 o'clock
⚠️Photography Notice: Do not disturb the local monks🙅♂️
⚠️Note: The temperature difference in the mountains is large, you need to wear thick clothes🧥, the altitude is high, walk slowly, otherwise it is easy to get hypoxia

In this lifetime, one must visit Western Sichuan's Seda with their beloved
In this lifetime, one must visit Western Sichuan's Seda with their beloved! A place hailed as a 'pure land for the soul'! The beauty here lies not only in the red houses but also in the faith! Here, you can let go of the worldly turmoil and return to the tranquility of your heart. Whether you are a believer or a traveler,

Travel with a guide.
Excited. On the way, you can see a lot of scenery that you haven't seen or experienced before. However, the altitude over there is high, so you need to be aware of altitude sickness. If you are prone to altitude sickness, you should start taking Rhodiola a week in advance. However, it is quite expensive at the pharmacy, so I didn't buy it at the time. Instead, I bought some cold medicine, band-aids, and Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid. You can also buy Gaoyuan'an and headache powder. I bought them at the inn because they sell them in smaller quantities, making them cheaper. For Gaoyuan'an, you should start taking it two days before reaching higher altitudes, and it will generally be effective when you reach higher elevations. The headache powder is also useful on the road, as it works quite quickly.

Travelogue of Seda
A round trip of three days, with a long journey, just to see the charm of Seda.
The day before the trip, due to heavy snow, all the tickets booked online were cancelled. Worried about the trip being ruined, I contacted the scalpers in advance, in case I couldn't buy tickets, I would buy from the scalpers.
I was lucky. I arrived at the Seda Jinma Distribution Center in the morning and just bought the last bus ticket to the Buddhist Academy in the morning.
From the distribution center to the Buddhist Academy is about twenty to thirty kilometers. Along the way, the whole area of red houses is in sight, feeling that the journey of more than ten hours is not in vain.
Seda is very beautiful, as beautiful as another world.
Regrettably, when I walked down from the altar city to the library and prepared to return to the altar city, I suddenly felt dizzy and had altitude sickness, so I couldn't see the sky burial.
Perhaps it's just not destined with the sky burial.
When we were in the altar city, a Tibetan child came to us and said he could take us there. It costs 50 per person, which is actually taking a bus down the mountain and then walking up the mountain. Those who went said it was very tiring and not very pleasant in the end.
I had no feeling at all when I went to Yulong Snow Mountain at 4680 meters above sea level, and I didn't have altitude sickness at 4000 meters above sea level in Western Sichuan, but I had severe altitude sickness in Seda. Friends who go to Seda still need to be mentally prepared, bring oxygen, just in case.
There is a hospital in the Buddhist Academy, but it only opens at three o'clock in the afternoon in winter.
You don't have to take the sightseeing bus into the mountain when you go down the mountain. You can take the bus down the mountain. There are many drivers who pull passengers back to Chengdu or Seda County. You need to bargain. Some drivers charge 70 per person to Seda. If you get on the bus and there are no other passengers, you may not leave for half an hour or an hour.
My friends took a 7-seater car and paid 10 yuan per person to Seda County.

The pilgrimage place for purifying the soul|| Seda
||Seda. Seda, located in Ganzi Prefecture, Sichuan Plateau. The plateau scenery of Seda County is beautiful, surrounded by mountains, countless maroon wooden houses are built along the mountain, the red that spreads all over the pits and valleys and spreads all over the slopes on all sides, stretches endlessly, and you can't see the edge at a glance. In the early morning, with the chanting, one can feel a kind of purification of the soul. At night, the lights gradually light up, illuminating the sky above Seda, which is incomparably beautiful. If you want to let go of some trivial matters, come on a pilgrimage of vision and soul.
WilliamMcGregor46
Thinking of going to Seda, I advise you to think carefully!!!
Thinking of going to Seda to purify your soul? I advise you to think thrice! Seda's ethnic and folk religious culture is profound and extensive, it is also one of the birthplaces of 'The Epic of King Gesar', with Gesar culture and temple religious culture representing a very important position in ethnic and folk culture. In addition to religious temples, there are also attractions like the Hoxi Wildlife Conservation Area, Seda Five-Color Sea, and other beautiful sceneries.

Journey to Seda: A mysterious pilgrimage in Tibet, dare you come?
Sichuan Seda is a very beautiful place, the climate gradually cools from October to November, with a large temperature difference between day and night. The daytime temperature is around 10-15 degrees, and the night temperature will drop to around 0 degrees. The local customs are very distinctive, here are some suggestions:
Day 1: After arriving in Seda, you can visit the Seda Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the world. You can visit the monastery and learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture and beliefs. You can stay in local homestays or hotels at night.
Day 2: You can go to the grasslands around Seda County, where there are beautiful grassland scenery and rich Tibetan folk culture. You can ride horses, tug-of-war on the grassland, watch Tibetan song and dance performances, etc. You can return to Seda Monastery at night and enjoy the night view on the platform in the monastery.
Day 3: You can visit other nearby attractions, such as Nianbaoyuze, Baiyu Temple, Wengda Town, etc. These places have unique scenery and culture, and you can deeply understand the local customs and lifestyle.
During the trip, respect the local customs and religious beliefs, and do not violate local taboos. At the same time, due to the high altitude and thin air, it is recommended to carry some common medicines and health products for emergencies.

I asked the Buddha: Why are there so many regrets in the world?

Seda is located in the northeastern part of the Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, and borders the two counties of Dari and Banma in the Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. It is a pure animal husbandry county dominated by Tibetans. Seda means Golden Horse in Tibetan, which was named after the history of a horse-shaped gold nugget unearthed in Seda. Before 2002, the road was not smooth, so the original living conditions have been preserved here. The small town is located in the farthest corner of northwestern Sichuan. The terrain is complex. There are wide grasslands, meandering meanders, dense lakes and lakes, and snowy mountains. The altitude is above 4,000 meters, the temperature is low, and there is no summer in winter. Seda has a long history, a long history of national culture, and a profound and profound religious culture. It is also one of the birthplaces of King Gesar.
The color is long and the winter is not summer. Considering the temperature and traffic conditions, May-October is the best season to travel to Seda. After November, there are snow scenes, but the winter roads are snow and ice, not Easy to drive. Thousands of people gather in Seda during the Fa Conference in January, April, June and September each year. Tickets and accommodation are very tight. If you travel in this section, you must book in advance and the ticket and accommodation location.

Seda is a place where Tibetan Buddhist temples are concentrated. The locals have the saying that "the color of the mountains and rivers is red." The shacks here are spectacular, and the valleys that stretch for several kilometers are covered with dense wooden shacks.
There are several temples and Buddhist temples on the valley and the mountain ridge. The scale of the building is not large, but the decoration is exquisite and splendid; the lamas and nuns in the red robes are coming and coming, the air is full. Vitality and a peaceful atmosphere.
Along the way to the Mandala, the people who practiced have begun to turn around, how many people understand the process of continuing to lengthen their heads, what is the significance? Maybe people really should have faith.
It is said that time is in a hurry, you can see the spectacular scenes of countless public debates in the square.
