Sanliao Ancient Village, Xingguo, Jiangxi Province
Sanliao is a historic Hakka village that was first built in the late Tang dynasty. The village is located at the junction of Xingguo, Ningdu, and Yudu counties, with a total area of 15 square kilometers. It is home to 18 village groups and is located in a small basin that slopes from west to east. The village is surrounded by mountains on the north, south, and west sides, forming a natural harbor.
Sanliao Village is famous for its rich feng shui culture and historical relics, and is known as the "No. 1 Village of Chinese Feng Shui Culture." Yang Yunsong, the founder of the Form School of Chinese Feng Shui Culture, once taught here and left many feng shui works. The village has preserved many scenic spots, such as the Meeting of the Tortoise and the Snake, the Zeng's Sand Hand, the Snake-shaped Ancestral Hall, the Tiger-shaped Tomb, and the Seven Star Pool, which showcase the rich feng shui culture. In addition, Sanliao Village also has a rich intangible cultural heritage, including Yang Gong Opera, Hua Tuo Opera, Fang Shen Opera, Zhenjun Opera, and Guanyin Opera, which add color to the villagers' lives. It is a second batch of traditional Chinese villages.
