Scenery as bright as day - Top of the Three Gorges
The Three Gorges Summit Scenic Area is located in Fengjie County, Chongqing. Located at the head of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River, it was named after the lines of Du Fu's poem "Red armor and white salt both pierce the sky, and the houses are winding around the mountain tops. The maple groves and orange trees are a mixture of red and green, and the corridors and towers are hung with brocade." It is the highest point in the physical form of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River and the most beautiful place in the landscape form. It mainly includes Baidi City, Qutang Gorge Scenic Area and other scenic spots.
The concept of the top of the Three Gorges comes from the poem "Ten Quatrains of Kuizhou Song" by the great poet Du Fu: "Red armor and white salt pierce the sky, and the streets are winding around the mountain tops. Maple forests and orange trees are painted in red and green, and the corridors and towers are decorated with brocade."
Fengjie County is located in the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir area of the Yangtze River and is the eastern gate of Chongqing City. The concept of the "Top of the Three Gorges" scenic area was proposed in 2016. The entire scenic area is located on the north bank of the Yangtze River in Fengjie County, a place dedicated to public service and the public good. The scenic area includes Baidi City, a national 4A scenic area, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national scenic spot; there is Kuimen, which is the background pattern of the 10-yuan RMB note; there is Qutang Gorge, the shortest, narrowest, and most majestic and steep of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River; there is the Qutang Gorge Cliff Carvings, a famous ancient monument in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River with a long history; there is Fengjie navel orange, a Chinese geographical indication product, which has won the title of "China Well-known Trademark".
Kuimen, also known as Qutang Gorge and Qutang Pass, is the west gate of Qutang Gorge. At the western entrance of the Three Gorges, there are steep cliffs on both sides, hundreds of feet high and less than a hundred meters wide, shaped like a gate, hence the name. Water from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River enters the gorge through this gate; it is the western gate of the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River. The water in the gorge is deep and the current is fast. The narrowest part of the river is less than 50 meters. The waves are turbulent, roaring and rushing, which is heart-pounding. It is known as "Kuimen, the most majestic in the world". Because Qutang Gorge is the gateway to eastern Sichuan, it is also called Kuimen. The majestic appearance of Kuimen has been used as the background pattern of RMB twice.
The Qutang Gorge starts from Baidi Mountain in Fengjie County in the west and ends at Daxi Town in Wushan County in the east. It is eight kilometers long and is the shortest of the Three Gorges, but the most majestic and steep. The gorge is famous for its "majesty". At the western entrance, there are steep cliffs on both sides, hundreds of feet high and less than a hundred meters wide, shaped like a gate, named "Kuimen", which is known as "Kuimen is the most majestic in the world"; the one in the north is called Chijia Mountain and the one in the south is called Baiyan Mountain. No matter what the weather is like, there are always layers of bright or dark silver light. The Yangtze River opens this gate and flows eastward majestically. The cliffs on both sides seem to be cut by knives and axes. The mountains are high and the gorge is narrow. Looking up at the blue sky, the clouds and the sky are connected in one line. The water in the gorge is deep and the current is fast. The narrowest part of the river is less than 50 meters. The waves are surging and the river is roaring, which is breathtaking. Although Qutang Gorge is short, it is strategically located. An ancient poem says: "It controls the water of the entire Sichuan province and strangles the throat of Ba and E"; the scenery is magnificent, "the table is connected to the sky, and the boats travel through the caves underground"; there are many places of interest. Along the river, you can see the remains of the ancient plank road, the ancient hanging coffins in Fengxiang Gorge, the dividing wall, the phoenix drinking from the spring, the upside-down monk and other wonders. Among them, the dividing wall is covered with inscriptions from various dynasties, which is quite impressive.
Qutang Gorge Cliff Carvings
Qutang Gorge Cliff Carvings are located in Bangjiang, west of Baiyan Mountain, on the south bank of Qutang. There is a large bluestone with an area of more than 1,000 meters, dozens of meters up and down, covered with twelve inscriptions from the Song Dynasty to modern times. These stone carvings are all engraved in relief, with fonts including regular script, official script, cursive script, and seal script.
