Ring of Kerry - cycling is fun
Biking around the Ring of Kerry is a dream for anyone who loves both cycling and breathtaking landscapes. This scenic route, located in southwest Ireland, offers a mix of coastal views, rolling hills, charming villages, and historical sites, making it perfect for a cycling adventure.
Ring of Kerry is really large, so choose wisely which route you want to go with depending on how many days you have to discover the Ring of Kerry. We have 3 days in Killarney, and here is our itinerary
Day 1: Train from Dublin to Killarney, rent a bike and discover some famous places nearby like Ross castle (15th-century fortress on the shores of Lough Leane, accessible via a short and easy ride from Killarney town)
Day 2: Book a tour to further discover other parts of the Ring of Kerry (Like Dingle Peninsula, etc.)
Day 3: Spend one day for cycling loop. We chose ghe Gap of Dunlop, which is dramatic mountain pass located west of Killarney, known for its rugged beauty.

Our family adventure to Ross Castle in County Kerry was like stepping into a fairy tale. Nestled on the shores of Lough Leane, this majestic fortress beckoned us with its towering turrets and storied history. As we explored the castle's ancient halls and winding staircases, we were transported back in time to Ireland's medieval past. We imagined the brave knights and noble lords who once roamed these halls, defending their kingdom against invaders and forging alliances with neighboring clans. From the castle's battlements, we marveled at panoramic views of the lush countryside and sparkling waters of the lake below. It was a moment of wonder and imagination, as we immersed ourselves in the magic of this ancient stronghold.
Looking ahead, our next dream destination to explore as a family is the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands. With its misty mountains, tranquil lochs, and ancient castles, the Highlands offer a timeless landscape steeped in history and legend. We envision hiking through glens carpeted with heather, exploring dramatic coastal cliffs, and tracing the footsteps of Scottish heroes like William Wallace and Rob Roy. The Highlands promise a journey of adventure and discovery, where we can connect with nature and each other in a landscape that feels like something out of a storybook.
