Not only spending money in Hong Kong, can you use consumption vouchers to travel abroad?
The second installment of consumption vouchers will be issued during the summer holidays. Hong Kongers can collect them using payment platforms such as Octopus, WechatPay, Alipay HK and PayMe. However, in addition to spending locally, the consumption voucher can also be used to pay for quarantine hotels, travel tickets and hotels, etc.? The author tried once.
The author used WeChatPay HK to collect $5,000 consumption vouchers last summer, and received the first installment of consumption vouchers on the same platform in April this year.
After the Hong Kong government relaxed quarantine restrictions from 14 days to 7 days, I started planning my "8+7" Singapore-Malaysia tour and Hong Kong "Staycation". So, I booked quarantine hotels in Hong Kong, as well as hotels in Singapore and Malaysia with my consumption voucher on Trip.com.
The author booked the quarantine hotel at the end of May, the Ramada Seaview Hotel in Sai Ying Pun, and along with three meals a day, the seven-day quarantine cost was HK$3,920 (HK$560 per night), which is a relatively cheaper option than other hotels between HK$600 and HK$700 per night. Although the room space is narrower, the dishes for three meals a day have not changed much (Figure 2 to Figure 4), and the delivery time is uncertain, but you can order takeaway, and you can see the view of the Victoria Harbor outside the window, the overall feeling is quite comfortable.
The author is also a person who likes to exercise, although the room at the Ramada Seaview Hotel is cramped, but fortunately, there is still a little space in the corridor to allow me to jump rope every day, thereby exercising to kill time during the 7-day quarantine.
Each quarantine hotel has different prices and different services, but using electronic payment platforms such as WechatPay, Alipay HK, PayMe and others can directly use consumer vouchers to pay for quarantine hotel fees, travel tickets and hotels, significantly reducing travel costs. Although it is impossible to pay for consumption vouchers on Trip.com by registering with Octopus, it is still too late to register for a transfer platform.
However, there is one thing to note, before the first return to Hong Kong must have a negative nucleic acid test within 48 hours before departure and be recognized by the local government to return to Hong Kong, and it is best to purchase travel insurance that covers the new coronavirus. In addition, it is best to book a quarantine hotel back in Hong Kong early, as rooms in quarantine hotels are hard to come by recently.
Finally, I hope this article can provide advice to those who are eager to travel, so that they can still plan a long-awaited trip during the pandemic!
