Yangzong Lake Travel Guide: Transportation • By car: From Kunming, take the Kunming–Shilin Expressway (G78 Kunming–Shantou Expressway) and exit at Songmao. The picking season is from January to March. • Cherry picking: In early April every year, over 4,000 acres of cherries ripen in Malang Village, Qidian Township, on the southwest bank of Yangzong Lake. The picking season lasts for over 50 days. • Waxberry picking: Mid-to-late May is the ripening season for waxberries throughout Yunnan.
