Sikhoraphum Castle, beautiful and majestic, with the charm of ancient Khmer art.
#VisitSecondaryCities
One of the important landmarks of secondary cities in Surin Province is Prasat Sikhoraphum, a stone castle that reflects the ancient Khmer architecture of the Angkor Wat period. Although it is over a thousand years old, the elegance and charm of ancient art have not faded. It is an ancient site that should be visited at least once in a lifetime.
Prasat Sikhoraphum is also known as Prasat Raeng, which comes from the name of Raeng Subdistrict. It is assumed to have been built since the 17th Buddhist century. It features Khmer art in the Bapuan style (1550-1650) and Angkor Wat style (1650-1700). It was originally a temple to worship Shiva, the god of Hinduism.
The distinctive features are the 5 prangs, located on a laterite base, with the main prang in the center, surrounded by 4 other prangs. There are carvings of apsara holding lotus flowers and door guardians holding clubs at the door, and the lintel is still the most complete and beautiful in Thailand.

Sikhoraphum Castle
We went to this place because we dreamed of a woman. She wanted us to go to her. We asked her who she was. We didn't know her. She said, "My name is Nang Apsara or Apsara." We had never heard of her before because we didn't know anyone by that name. When we woke up, we started to search for information, looking for the images we saw in our dreams.
When we arrived, the sky was dark and scary. We walked around the castle, it was very beautiful. The food was still intact. I was still surprised that the people in the past were so good. How did they lift the big rocks? The atmosphere around was very good. It was refreshing to breathe. But in the niche with the Buddha statue, it was narrow and very stuffy. Only 1 person could enter at a time.
If anyone likes ancient places, old places, and sees old Thai culture, I recommend you to go. It's worth it to see it with your own eyes and touch it with your own hands.
Oh!! There is an entrance fee of 20 baht per person. Once you go in, don't forget to help take care of it and preserve it.

Sikhoraphum Castle, a must-see when visiting Surin. An ancient site over a thousand years old, Sikhoraphum Castle or Raeng Castle was once a temple to worship Lord Shiva. The outstanding architecture is that it has 5 prangs on a laterite base, with the main prang in the middle, surrounded by 4 smaller prangs. Outside, there are many ponds, which is a beautiful layout in the style of ancient temples.

The highlight of Prasat Sikhoraphum is the 5 prangs located on a laterite base. There is a main prang in the center, surrounded by 4 other prangs.
