The first thing you would notice about the monastery is its elaborate, traditional architecture, notice the decor, which comprises dragons, phoenixes and other animal designs. The monastery was founded in 1906 by three monks visiting from Jiangsu Province on the Chinese mainland and was initially known simply as "The Big Hut".

Having lunch at Ngong Ping Village is a nice experience, You can choose from the food stalls or even experience a vegetarian lunch at Po Lin Monastery. It is a full course lunch menu and you can choose from the different menu available on that day. You will pay for the meals according to the number of persons in your group. I first visited this massive temple years ago, and over the years, it has become a bustling hub, which have Ngong Ping Cable car that attract many tourist Nestled on a colorful hillside, the monastery is home to the iconic 34-meter bronze Tian Tan Buddha statue, attracting tourists from around the world. During my visit in December, the cool weather made exploring the monastery grounds comfortable. I also had the opportunity to explore the adjacent temple, which houses numerous Buddha statues and offers delicious vegetarian food for purchase. The monastery's grandeur and ornate architecture were truly captivating, and spending several hours immersing myself in its splendor.
