It takes around 2-3hours drive from Melbourne city and there are plenty of day-trip tour services that you can join that will cost anywhere from AUD139 to above AUD1000 depending on the group size and travel time. The tour I joined in called Bunyip Travel departed from Melbourne at 10AM and return by 10PM. It was mesmerizing to sit and watch those penguins emerge from the ocean towards their burrows. No photo & videos are allowed during the Penguin Parade and it can take quite a while to wait for those penguins to show up, so if you go in winter time, make sure to pack some warm clothings as you’ll be sitting outside. After a visit to the Nobbies Center to watch the sunset it’s time to see penguins returning to their nests, Philip Island is one of the world’s largest small penguin colonies, and every day at dusk the wild little penguins slowly emerge from the sea and walk across the beach back to their caves to rest. One day tour includes ordinary tickets and VIP tickets. Friends who have been there said that the VIP stands will be closer to the penguin. You can study them. Tickets are free sitting, if you want to occupy a beautiful seat, it is recommended to go a little early❣️ Since it is impossible to control the time and number of wild animals returning to their nests, we have to wait patiently, and the beach is quite windy, remember to bring warm clothes 🧥 I feel a bit cold even if I wear a thin down jacket 🥶 ⚠️ The whole penguin can not take pictures when returning to the nest, firstly, I am afraid that the flash lights of tourists will scare the penguins, making them forget how to walk back to their nest.
