⛰️ A Taste of the Pyrenees: Andorra's Mountain Cuisine
🇦🇩 Nestled high in the majestic Pyrenees mountains, the tiny principality of Andorra offers a culinary experience as unique as its landscape. The food here is a delicious reflection of its rugged, alpine setting: hearty, flavourful, and deeply rooted in traditional Catalan culture.
💎 While Andorra's sophisticated fine-dining scene means you can certainly find exquisite imported seafood like langoustine, the true soul of Andorran food comes from the mountains. Think rich stews to warm you after a day on the slopes, smoky grilled meats, wild mushrooms, and delicious cured sausages.
🍲 Dining in Andorra is a cozy and comforting experience, often enjoyed in beautifully rustic stone restaurants, where the focus is on high-quality local ingredients and time-honoured recipes.
✅ The Authentic Taste of Andorra:
* Trinxat: A must-try mountain classic. This is a hearty, savoury cake of slowly cooked potatoes and cabbage, pan-fried with delicious bits of pork belly. It's the ultimate Pyrenean comfort food.
* Escudella: Considered Andorra's national dish, this is a substantial stew traditionally made in winter, featuring meats, vegetables, and large pasta shells.
* Cargols a la llauna (Snails): A true Catalan delicacy popular in Andorra. The snails are roasted on a tin plate with garlic, olive oil, and herbs, and are incredibly flavourful.
💡 Pro Tip:
For the most authentic experience, seek out a traditional restaurant called a "borda". These are beautifully restored old stone barns and stables, offering a wonderfully rustic atmosphere and menus specializing in grilled meats and local mountain dishes.
🏨 Hotel Recommendation:
For a luxurious stay with a focus on gastronomy, book a room at the Sport Hotel Hermitage & Spa. This 5-star hotel in Soldeu is home to several acclaimed restaurants, including one by a Michelin-starred chef, offering the pinnacle of Andorran fine dining.

Andorra is a place with a legendary WeChat population of 20 million.
This European summer trip was specially arranged for Andorra🇦🇩
A small and unpopular country located between France and Spain
Andorra has a population of 80,000...however, it is said that WeChat has a population of 20 million🙈
There are buses available from Toulouse, France or Barcelona, Spain.
We chose the latter, it takes about 3 hours by bus.
A niche country that you can explore in one day~
🚌Transportation
Departure from Barcelona North Bus Station Estació del Nord
The alsa we took has buses every day and the journey takes 3 hours.
The bus goes directly across the border without getting off, so it's very smooth.
Arrival at the station in Andorra Estació Nacional d'Autobusos del Principat d'Andorra
💡Remember to buy the round-trip ticket in advance to get it cheaper, 16.2 euros
It is recommended to leave at 7 am and return around 15 pm, so there is plenty of time.
If you want to go to nearby Canillo, it is recommended to go back later.
✨One day city walk
📍Parc Central of Andorra la Vella
It can be reached on foot from the station. There are many sculptures.
📍Plaça de la Rotonda
The square in the city center has one of the few landmarks in Andorra - Dali's sculpture "La Noblesse du temps"
📍Pont de París
Further ahead is the Pont de Paris, a landmark building in Andorra, which is lit up at night.
📍Casa de la Vall
It is now a museum that introduces the history of Andorra
✨Surrounding tour canillo
Be sure to allow enough time! We waited for the bus for half an hour. Because we couldn't catch the bus back to Barcelona, we didn't get to the top of the mountain observation deck (fortunately, the visitor center can refund the ticket...)
Take L4 to Canillo, get off the bus near the gas station and take a bus to the top of the mountain. Remember to buy your tickets in advance, and you can only take the bus to the top with your tickets!
There are two main attractions to see on the mountain with a pass, or you can just go to the observation deck.
📍Pont Tibetà The second longest bridge in the world
📍Mirador Roc Del Quer Observation Deck
🇦🇩Andorra is not part of the EU. Many people from duty-free countries come here to shop.
There will be inspections when leaving the country, and valuables will be taxed.
Calling cards from EU countries cannot be used here, and public wifi is not very stable.
It is recommended to prepare a strategy in advance, otherwise it will easily waste time if there is no Internet connection.
