Pang Ung: The Switzerland of Thailand
Pang Ung, also known as the Pang Tong Royal Project 2, is located in the village of Ruam Thai, Mok Cham Pae Subdistrict, Mueang Mae Hong Son District, Mae Hong Son Province. This tourist destination features a scenic pine forest surrounding a large reservoir atop a mountain. During the winter months of December to January, the mornings bring cold winds and mist hovering over the water, earning it the nickname 'The Switzerland of Thailand.' Situated in the Tham Pla - Pha Suea National Park, the area offers camping grounds with clean restrooms where visitors can enjoy beautiful views right from their tents. A must-do activity at Pang Ung is bamboo rafting. Locals recommend waking up early to raft through the mist rising from the water, accompanied by the refreshing cool air, creating an unforgettable experience.
