Most (i.e. 100%) of the jade and Ming vases are probably fake, but if you’re just looking for something interesting or fun and are willing to bargain, there is plenty to be had from Cultural Revolution memorabilia to Tibetan rugs and of course knockoffs of every variety. In the middle of Beijing one can find an amazing antique market filled with jewellery, books, statues, fans, ceramics and much much more. The market has a good mix of old and new as well as the option to personalise many items. The one sections is mainly jewellery focused more around stones. Then there is a second for ceramics, a plants section and then a bit of everything section. My favorite section was the book section. This had mostly antique books as well as posters and post cards. I loved to see how things have changed over the years. The market is rather big and could take a few hours to walk around but I would highly recommend going there if you are in Beijing. It is also a great place to get gifts to take home. Getting There - one could take a didi, the bus or subway.
