During the festive Lunar New Year holiday of 2025, our family chose a special destination - OCT East in Shenzhen. The highlight of our trip was undoubtedly the fairytale forest train. 1. First Encounter with the Train The small train at OCT East, known as the Interlaken Train, is 5,200 meters long and circles the entire OCT East resort. The train's exterior design is quite fairytale-like, with some resembling parrot heads and others shaped like blue birds, as if they had just emerged from a storybook. After arriving at the Tea Stream Valley parking lot, we walked less than 100 meters to the train's entrance. There were quite a few people, so we bought tickets while queuing. The ticket purchase process was very convenient; we could scan a QR code on-site or buy tickets on Trip.com. Adult tickets were CNY 60, children under 1.0 meter tall were free, and there was a CNY 12 discount if purchased on Trip.com. 2. Riding Experience The train operates from 10:00 to 17:00 daily. Despite the large number of tourists during the Lunar New Year period, the train's departure frequency was high, with a train departing approximately every 15 to 20 minutes. We queued for about 40 minutes before boarding. As the train slowly started, accompanied by the ding-dong sound of the bell, our magical journey began. During the first half of the journey, the train passed through lush forests and tunnels, the air filled with a refreshing fragrance. The second half of the journey was on elevated tracks, overlooking the colorful European-style castle town and Green Lake, offering breathtakingly beautiful views. Sitting on the left side of the last carriage provided the best photo opportunities, capturing the entire train and the most beautiful scenery. We deliberately chose this location and, as expected, took many satisfying photos. 3. Stopover The train makes a brief stop of about 9 minutes at either the Big Turn Station or the Grand Canyon Station. This is a good place to rest, take photos, and buy snacks. The room is fully equipped with a projection bathtub and a dry and wet separated bathroom. It's very comfortable to live in. My favorite thing is the large expanse of green that comes through the windows opposite the bed and next to the bathtub. It is really soothing. The B&B also prepared a thoughtful afternoon tea and sumptuous dinner for us, which was both beautiful and delicious. You can feel the sincerity of providing services to the guests. In short, I highly recommend it, and I will definitely think of it next time when I don’t want to travel far away!
