Savor Seoul: Myeongdong Kyoja
#cherryblossom2024
The dumplings boast delightful flavors, while the kalguksu is rich and satisfying. Bibim noodles feature distinctive green noodles with a hint of spice. Combining bibim noodles with dumplings creates a harmonious culinary experience. The kimchi packs a punch with its spicy kick your breath literally smells like garlic after the meal.

🇰🇷 Pedestrian Friendly Shopping Streets in Myeongdong
#citywalk
Myeongdong is one of the Korea's famous shopping and fashion districts in Seoul. You can find many local, international brands and department stores as you walk along the two main streets beginning from Myeong-dong Subway Station and Eulji-ro Subway Station. Walking around Myeongdong is a pleasant experience as many parts of the district are pedestrian-friendly. As night falls, the area turns into a buzzling night market with many street food vendors lining the streets.
Below are some of my personal must-do's in Myeongdong:
1) HBAF Almond Flagship Store
I bought the giant pack with 22 different flavours in mini packets. Do drop by this largest HBAF store to sample some of the flavours!
2) Daiso
You can find the largest Daiso store with 12 floors near Myeongdong subway station. There is also another underground store near Myeongdong walking street.
3) Myeongdong Kyoja
Michelin restaurant that you should not miss.
4) Fried Chicken with beer
There are many similar restaurants in Myeongdong. We tried Kkanbu Chicken.
5) Korean Cosmetics Stores
You can find all the Korean cosmetic brands in Myeongdong. However I found that the smaller stores tend to offer better deals than the major flagship stores.

Tantalise Your Taste Buds at Sinsegae Tteokbokki
Our go-to eatery during our time in Seoul was Myeongdong Tteokbokki—an establishment that held a special place in our hearts. Conveniently located right next to our hotel, we strolled past it every day. My mother, a fan of Pojangmacha (Korean street stalls), was drawn to its affordability and diverse range of offerings. Additionally, her penchant for Korean dramas inspired her to dine in the same tented spots often depicted in those shows. :D
At Sinsegae Tteokbokki, we discovered some of the most delectable Tteokbokki I have ever tasted. Their fried mandu was equally remarkable. To be honest, I was taken aback by the tenderness of the rice cake. As someone who isn't typically fond of rice cake due to its chewiness and lack of flavour, I found this particular Tteokbokki to be perfectly cooked. Although it was a bit spicier than I prefer, its addictive nature kept me indulging in more!
Address: 10 Myeongdong 9-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Highlights: Tteokbokki, Fried Mandu

🇰🇷 The Spot Fabulous Cafe
Address: 22 Myeongdong 2-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Opening hours: 10am to 10.30pm everyday
Awesome cafe in Myeongdong area, located directly opposite Lotte Young Plaza and along the street famous for money exchangers. It occupies 2 floors in this old building, and you will have to place order at the ground floor before going up to upstairs to get a table. You will collect your order upstairs so there is no need to navigate the stairs again. This cafe has awesome pasties and there is no minimum order. But you have to find your own seats and the staff will not help you.

Unlimited Korean BBQ on Myeongdong!
Address - Seoul, Jung-gu, Myeongdong 8na-gil, 9 3층
Ambiance/Facilities - KBBQ buffet
Highlights - Unlimited beef, Iberian pork and sides
Avg. Price per Person - 27900 won
Rating - 10/10
We were craving for some beef BBQ and after some investigation found this amazing place. It is located on 3rd floor and pretty easy to miss.
Staff speaks flawless English and quality of the products are amazing. Super fresh and tasty!
Also pretty nice view on the myeongdong district.
But be careful, they won't let 1 person, group should be 2+, they said this is the policy because of current inflation. Also gets pretty busy after 6, make sure to come earlier.

🇰🇷Hotteok - It’s a MUST on chilly days !
#wheretogo
Along the Myeongdong street, we saw many stalls selling street snacks and Korean sweet pancake or known as Hotteok is a must try! It's perfect for the chilly weather during our trip in Autumn. It's actually a dough that's filled with brown sugar, nuts, cinnamon and honey. And we saw the stall owner was bufy frying those pancakes on the hot pan. Having a sweet tooth, I like it very much! It's gooey with sweetness, piping hot and can feel the crunchiness coming from the chopped nuts. #timetotravel #korea #seoulfun #seoulgood #foodie

🇰🇷 Myeongdong space festival
An outdoor event with many food and games stall and open to everyone to join in. There are also prizes to win if you can win the challenge. It is a festival for you to discover which flavours you like in your drinks. There are many young people at this event and you can get to make more friends. The entire Myeongdong street will be close to traffic and it will be very crowded. It is best you use public transportation to come over here. You can use cash or cards at this event or you can even book a hotel within Myeongdong to soak in the atmosphere.

Instead of Issac toast, we tried toastnine. they have limited choices but it was nice and is underrated. the stall is situated behind at alley, there are no seats. after this, we headed to a cafe - Luft Coffee. The pastries look beautiful and yummy, limited choices left when we arrived.
we headed to lotte mall for shopping, where they have tax-free shopping at level 7 ( the top floor).
Had lunch at the shopping street of Myeongdong, which I tried the bacon wrapped with kimchi. it is quite pricey at 10,000 won. also tried the mini bingsu and pancake at Butterfinger. the pancakes were nice.
had dinner at Gangnam

What to do on a rainy day in Seoul
Due to the typhoon, it was a raining day the second day we reached Seoul. We wanted to have Issac toast as breakfast but the queue was long. we gave up after queueing for 15 mins in the rain and decided to head to cathedral near Myeongdong. By chance, we had a nice lunch at the 2 level and a good nice cafe next door (Coffee Libre).
We headed to National Museum after lunch. It was worth a visit .we only managed to go through the history of Seoul which was at the first floor. didn't manage to go to 2 and 3 rd floors as it was closing.
we had our dinner at Hongdae

Tim Ho Wan in Myeongdong, Seoul
As a foreigner living in Seoul for a long time, the crave for Cantonese food such as Dim Sum is inevitable. But fortunately, the famous Michelin Star rated Tum Ho Wan set foot in Seoul. Myeongdong branch is the 4th branch of Tim Ho Wan in Seoul, and there are also several varieties of Dim Sum to be chosen from. Most importantly, the famous Char Siew Pau is available in every branches and they really satisfied my cravings for Dim Sum. Glad to have them here in Seoul.
