Family Tour to Adelaide, Melbourne, and Singapore
[Australia Family Trip Day 3] Explore the Painted Streets, Visit the German Village, and Enjoy South Australia's Most Beautiful Mountaintop Views 🎨⛰️🎠
Our third day in Adelaide was packed with exciting attractions:
Exploring urban art, exploring the exotic charm of mountain towns, enjoying breathtaking mountaintop views, and enjoying a children's playground... This day's itinerary spanned the city, the mountains, and the southern suburbs, packed with surprises!
🎨 Adelaide City Painted Street Art Walk
This morning, we departed from the city and explored Adelaide's vibrant street art district.
The walls and alleyways here are filled with stunning graffiti, installations, and murals, a feast of color and creativity!
As the children walked, searching for the "coolest painting" felt like an art scavenger hunt, allowing us to experience the city's creative spirit from a different perspective. 📸 Family Highlights: Many of the murals are perfect for family photos, making it a great place for family photo opportunities!
🥨 German Village Hahndorf
For lunch, we arrived in Hahndorf, a popular German immigrant village east of Adelaide. It boasts a rich European atmosphere, with wooden buildings, handicraft shops, and traditional German cuisine lining the streets.
In town, we enjoyed a sausage platter, pork knuckle, and sizzling sauerkraut soup. The kids loved the hot cocoa and apple pie at the dessert shop.
🎠 There's also an antique toy shop and a candy store in the town, which the children thoroughly enjoyed browsing. It felt like stepping into a fairytale world.
⛰️ Mount Lofty Summit
After lunch, we drove to the summit of Mount Lofty Summit, Adelaide's highest point. It offers the best vantage point for panoramic views of the city and coastline, with expansive views and fresh air. Our whole family stood on the observation deck, gazing at the blue sky and the vast landscape before us, and our hearts soared. There's also a small visitor center and cafe at the summit, perfect for a quick break.
🌬️ Family tip: Remember to bring a windbreaker! The wind can be strong and chilly at the summit, so children might need an extra jacket.
🌄 Windy Point Lookout
Next, we visited Windy Point Lookout, another fantastic viewpoint. While less well-known, it's recommended by locals as the "best sunset viewing spot."
Standing here in the evening, you can see the intertwined scenery of the mountains and the coast, creating a particularly tranquil and stunning scene.
📸 Photography tip: Visit in the evening for the stunning sunset light, creating a natural filter in your photos!
🎠 Tarranga Playground
After a full day of sightseeing, there's one last attraction the kids are looking forward to: Tarranga Playground (or South Playground, depending on the location).
It's packed with amenities, including a rope climbing system, slides, a sandpit, and a spinning ride, making it a fun place for kids to let loose.
We also took a short nap in the nearby pavilion, immersing ourselves in the relaxed pace of Australian life.
🏠 Returning to Carrington Apartments for the evening, a perfect end to the day.
After a full day of sightseeing, we returned to our familiar three-bedroom apartment. The family gathered in the living room, enjoying desserts from Hahndorf's and reviewing photos from the day. This was the most heartwarming moment of the trip.
Travel isn't just about visiting attractions; it's about an adventure that helps children grow up.
