National Amusement Park The day I spent in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, was short but very fulfilling, and it was a time where I could feel various charms!🙏 ✅️ | Chinggis Khan Square (Sükhbaatar Square) The first place I visited in the morning was Chinggis Khan Square, the center of Ulaanbaatar. The Genghis Khan statue stood majestically in a wide open space, and it was surrounded by the National Assembly and government buildings, so I felt like I was standing in the center of Mongolia. There weren't many people, so I was able to take a leisurely walk and take a lot of pictures.👍 ✅️ | Genghis Khan Museum The Genghis Khan Museum, located near the square, was larger than I thought. The history of the Mongolian Empire, war relics, maps, and cultural assets were well organized, and the exhibition was organized systematically, so it was fun to see. In particular, the life and conquest of Genghis Khan were explained in detail, so it's a must-see for anyone interested in history. ✅️ | Ulaanbaatar Museum of Modern Art (UMMA) I wanted to change the atmosphere a little, so I also stopped by the nearby modern art museum. There were many works that combined tradition and modernity, and I was able to feel a different emotion while looking at the artworks that expressed Mongolia's nature, culture, and life. ✅️ | Blue Sky Lounge View I had a quick lunch outside, but after eating, I went up to the Blue Sky Tower Lounge and enjoyed the view of the city. The view of Ulaanbaatar city and the surrounding mountains outside the window was impressive, and I spent my time leisurely. ✅️ | Cashmere Shop Shopping Since I came to Mongolia, I couldn't miss cashmere shopping. I compared several brands, and the price was pretty reasonable compared to the soft and warm texture. I looked at scarves, gloves, and knits and bought a few as gifts. It was a practical and satisfying shopping experience. ✅️ | Ulaanbaatar Sign Next, a certification shot in front of the city name sign! Taking a picture in front of the colorful "Ulaanbaatar" sign seems to be a must-do for travelers. The weather was nice, so the picture turned out really well. ✅️ | National Amusement Park Lastly, I stopped by the National Amusement Park. It's not big, but it has cute rides and a Ferris wheel, so it was good for feeling the local atmosphere. [Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️] Let's go on this trip to appreciate Mongolian modern art!!✈️ 🛄ㅣNational Museum of Modern Art of Mongolia🏛 ✅️ | Operating Information Summer (May~September): 10:00 AM ~ 6:00 PM Winter (October~April): 10:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM While traveling in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, I had the opportunity to visit the National Modern Art Gallery of Mongolia. As someone who has always been interested in modern art, I thought I absolutely had to visit this museum to see how Mongolian artists express their culture👏 The museum was located in the center of Ulaanbaatar, so it was easy to find. The exterior was relatively simple and plain, but once I entered, a completely different atmosphere unfolded. The exhibition space was spacious and quiet, so it was great for focusing on each piece~👍 What impressed me the most was the harmony between Mongolia's traditional nomadic culture and modern sensibility. Some works were based on traditional houses called Gers and expressed them as installation art. They were very impressive as they portrayed the lives of actual nomads from a modern perspective. Another work was an abstract painting of horses, grasslands, and wind. Each brushstroke contained Mongolia’s unique free spirit, making me feel as if I was in the landscape. In addition, there were works that dealt with social issues, urbanization, and environmental changes in Mongolia. Through intense colors and symbolic expressions, the artists clearly conveyed their voices. Among them, there was a work by a Mongolian female artist, which was very impressive as it contrasted the role of women in tradition with the changing perspectives in modern society. The explanations for the works were provided in both English and Mongolian, so there was no great difficulty in understanding them. If you had any questions, the museum staff would kindly explain them to you. The museum was relatively quiet and peaceful, so you could leisurely view the museum for a long time. Through this visit, I was able to see more than just the works of art, but also the cultural identity of Mongolia and the philosophy of its artists. It was a more meaningful time because Mongolia's natural beauty, depth of tradition, and various changes in modern society were naturally melted into art!! If you are interested in modern art, I highly recommend visiting the Mongolian National Museum of Modern Art.
