2025 Budapest Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in March)
Budapest is the capital city of Hungary and it is also known as the "Pearl on the River Danube." The two banks of the River Danube, west and east, were the two cities of Buda and Pest. Starting in 1873, they were united into a single city, now called Budapest. Buda, on the west bank, holds the highlands. Castle Hill gathers together many scenic spots and symbolic landmarks, such as Halaszbastya (Fisherman's Bastion) and Matthias Church. The hill is also a great place for beautiful views of distant Pest. Pest, on the east bank, is mostly flat. This is the site of the magnificent Hungarian parliament building, as well as famous shopping streets.

Budapest / Hungary Budapest Treasure Hunt Ecseri Flea Market Half Day Tour
#2024TravelReview
If you are a vintage lover or like to find unique antiques, then the Budapest Flea Market (Ecseri Piac) is definitely a must-see. This market is not only one of the largest flea markets in Central Europe, but also a great place for locals and tourists to discover treasures.
The market doesn't cover too much space, and the stalls are clearly divided. The things sold are really diverse, ranging from furniture, cameras, antiques, clothing accessories... and so on. The day we went was a weekday, so many shops were closed. It is recommended to go there early on Saturday morning, which is the busiest time in the market and it may be easier to find treasures. Even if you don’t plan to buy, simply strolling through the market and taking in the atmosphere is a rare experience.

The most beautiful cafe in the world, a coffee time like a palace "Budapest New York Cafe"
The New York Café in Budapest is known as one of the most beautiful cafés in the world. This century-old cafe is located inside the Anantara New York Palace Hotel. As soon as you step through the door, you can feel the breathtaking splendor. A gorgeous chandelier hangs from the high ceiling, and there are exquisite ceiling murals all around. The overall decoration perfectly blends the Renaissance and Baroque styles, creating an elegant and luxurious atmosphere.
As New York Café is very popular among tourists, it is recommended to make reservations in advance, especially during the peak tourist season, to avoid being disappointed. However, you might as well lower your expectations of service when you visit, after all, the focus here is more on the gorgeous decoration. The price of coffee drinks is about 10 to 12 euros. Although it is expensive overall, just think of it as a ticket to appreciate this classic building.

A must-visit in Budapest: Europe's largest pinball museum is located here
#2024TravelReview
Flippermúzeum, located in Budapest, Hungary. It is currently the largest pinball museum in Europe. There are over 150 pinball machines in the collection, ranging from classic models from the early 20th century to modern high-tech versions. It's really cool!!! When I saw this landmark on the map, I immediately put it on my must-visit list.
As you enter Flippermúzeum, a strong sense of nostalgia immediately hits you. The dim lights, flashing neon signs and the sound of machines echoing everywhere make you feel like you have stepped into a retro arcade. The pinball machines in the museum range from mechanical machines from the 1930s to modern electronic versions. There are also some rare limited edition machines and even classic works in the history of pinball, such as special models with movie, music or comic themes. What makes Flippermúzeum different from traditional museums is that it adopts a fully interactive approach, and all the pinball machines on display can be played! Whether you are a pinball novice or an expert, as long as you buy a ticket, you can play all the machines.
If you are looking for an interesting place in Budapest, or just want to experience something special, then you can't miss this place when you come to Budapest!

Budapest / Hungary Hot springs in the palace? Unique experiences in Budapest Széchenyi Thermal Baths
#2024Travel Review
Budapest is known as the "City of Hot Springs" and has many hot spring baths with a long history and different styles. Taking a hot spring bath is definitely a must-do when you come here, and we chose the Széchenyi Thermal Bath (Széchenyi Thermal Bath) located in the city park, which is also one of the largest hot spring baths in Europe.
After getting off the subway, you can walk for a few minutes to see this building with a goose-yellow appearance that looks like a European palace. It provides multiple indoor and outdoor hot spring pools. The most recommended thing is of course the large outdoor pool. It's like being in a swimming pool - it's so fun. And you can also see locals playing chess leisurely in the pool. The whole atmosphere is very interesting!
The spring water here comes from geothermal heat and is rich in minerals. It is said to be very helpful for rheumatism and arthritis. I sincerely recommend that everyone who comes to Budapest must experience this healing hot spring experience.
🚇 Transportation: You can take metro line M1 to Széchenyi fürdő station.

Hungary Budapest View & Night View Restaurant Fisherman's Bastion Halászbástya🇭🇺
I think the Fisherman's Bastion is a must-visit place in Budapest. It is a fortress built to protect Matthias Church, and the view of Budapest from here is fantastic! It is a very romantic place, especially if you come at sunset and enjoy the sunset.
There are many people in downtown Budapest (the Parliament area), but the area near Buda Castle is quiet and perfect for a walk. I didn't know Budapest, which I traveled to without much expectation, would be this good.🥹

🇭🇺Parliament building with a view of the Danube River in Budapest, just like in a movie🇭🇺
#December Travel Support Event
The Budapest Parliament Building, famous for its world-class night view. Every day, you will be overwhelmed and exclaim in awe just by visiting here. The night view is really famous, but it is also beautiful during the day on a clear day, so it is great for taking pictures. In particular, you can see the view of the Parliament Building more by riding the yellow tram passing in front, so riding the tram is recommended!
I personally recommend getting off at Margit híd, budai hídfő H tram station and walking down to Viewtoint. The Parliament Building lights up when the sun sets and turns off at exactly 11 o'clock, so you should check the time carefully before going. (As of August)
The front of the Batthyány tér H metro station, which is completely visible, is crowded with people, making it difficult to take pictures or see the view properly. I recommend walking on the same line and taking pictures in a spot where there are no people!

I visited Budapest three times this month,
It's very convenient to buy a bus ticket right on the bus!
This city is rarely mentioned in textbooks, so I never knew...
It turns out it's so beautiful!
Strolling along the Danube River,
Crossing a bridge and climbing a small hill to see the scenery,
Or crossing another bridge to see the palace...
I didn't know any of this before coming here~
The prices are relatively affordable, and the overall security is quite friendly.
The streets and buildings are colorful, and the column decorations are unique!
The city has different looks in the morning, noon, and night~
By the way, the boat tours here are also relatively cheap~

Budapest: Paris can only be the 2nd most romantic city
Many see Paris (or France in general) the most romantic city in the Europe, but to me no place could top Budapest.
The Fisherman’s Bastion sitting high on the hill and overlooking the Danube river and historic bridges that join the once separated Buda & Pest, was pure beauty. It’s no wonder many couples could be seen taking their wedding shots there. It’s highly recommended to come here during the blue hours before sun even rises; the tone of the building could quickly turn orangish in an hour or so.
Many attraction sites are along the Danube River, like Chain Bridge, Liberty Bridge, Hungarian Parliament etc, which makes it an ideal route for city walk.

Budapest | Enjoy the good vibe in Cosy restaurant in Budapest
Before watching the opera, my friends and I went for some Romanian food.
.
This little restaurant had a great atmosphere, with many groups dining together.
.
We ordered a glass of red wine. It wasn't particularly full-bodied, but it was very smooth.
.
Bean soup
I’ve gotten used to Hungarian soups where even if it looks vegetarian, there’s always some meat, haha. This one was hearty, with a tomato-based broth that was sweet and tangy, featuring sliced sausages, beans, and more. It tasted really good.
.
Stuffed cabbage
This dish is similar to tofu skins wrapped around meat. The sauerkraut wraps neatly chopped meat, and when you cut into it, it’s packed with fillings. The sour cream added extra flavor—very nice.
.
Chicken paprikash with noodles, cucumber salad
The chicken was stewed until very tender, paired with pickled cucumbers (which were prepared in a way that reminded me so much of home—delicious!), and some cooked dumplings. The combination of meat, vegetables, and carbs was very satisfying!
.
Average cost per person: £25

[Budapest] [Vienna] A fun 2.5 hour train ride✨
I took a round trip train trip from Budapest Keleti Station in Hungary🇭🇺 to Vienna Central Station in Austria🇦🇹 in a second-class car on the Railjet OBB Railway (Austrian Federal Railways).
Seats are reserved.
When making a reservation, you can choose a window seat or a box seat✨
The four-person box seat had a large table and, although it wasn't very clean, a small trash can was attached.
The atmosphere inside the train was relaxed, with people eating burgers they had brought with them, people talking loudly on the phone, and couples kissing. You can see all kinds of human scenes😊
The conductor comes to check your ticket, but there is no passport check because of the Schengen Agreement.
We arrived at Vienna Central Station in two and a half hours, with a view of the endless windmills that generate electricity.
Vienna Central Station is a large station with a shopping mall attached.
After strolling around Vienna, I bought a colorful lunch box at the supermarket in the station on the way back and got on the train 😋
On the way back, the train passed through Hungary from Vienna and ended in Kyiv, Ukraine.
It crosses three countries.
I was impressed that the trains were running normally during the war, but there was no arrival announcement at all in Budapest, so when I thought it was about time, I had to strain my eyes to get off 😅
The toilet was a problem!
The door lock was broken, it didn't flush, it was under repair, etc.
It was a fun train trip, but if you want a clean feeling, I recommend the first class car ☝️
💰Price per person: 34 euros one way

Budapest | The most beautiful coffee shop in the world
We lined up at the New York Cafe right when it opened at 8 a.m., and there were already 30 to 40 people in line… the business is really booming.
.
The interior of the cafe is magnificent and luxurious, with a great atmosphere.
.
The Eggs Benedict tasted a bit salty, with crispy fried potato strips on top, along with bacon and eggs—absolutely delicious!
.
The French toast with cherries had the perfect balance of sweet and sour.
.
My friend and I had cappuccinos and Americanos—both were decent and reliable choices.

The Enchanting Nightscape of Budapest: A Summer Evening to Remember
#cityscape #100waysoftravel #budapest #parliament #chainbridge #nightview #Budapestnightview #bastion
During our summer visit to Budapest, we waited at Fisherman’s Bastion until 8 PM to witness the city’s breathtaking night view. As the sun set, the iconic Parliament building and the Széchenyi Chain Bridge lit up, casting their golden glow over the Danube River. The reflection of the illuminated structures on the water created a mesmerizing scene, making the city feel magical. The contrast between the historic architecture and the shimmering lights made Budapest's nightscape one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, leaving an indelible impression that I’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Hungarian Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest
Szépművészeti Múzeum
Opened in 1906, it is one of the most famous museums in Europe
Ticket price: Adult 🎫 5800 Forint
This art museum has a very complete collection of Western art from an art history perspective, especially from the early Renaissance to the 18th century
The museum itself is very beautiful. The main building adopts a new Renaissance style 🪜The facade follows the norms of neoclassicism
In addition to these neoclassical style interiors with Hungarian characteristics
The museum's collection is composed of international art works, including more than 10,000 works representing all periods of European art, especially the rich collection of ancient Egyptian art is famous in Europe
My visit this time mainly focused on architecture and painting. The rich collection outlines the development of European painting from the 13th to the 18th century
Highly recommend everyone to check in, it takes 2-3 hours to visit!
