Unearthing Our Origins at the Cradle of Humankind
The Cradle of Humankind is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in South Africa. It is known for the fossil of early humans.
Getting There - I went there with a local tour guide from Johannesburg.
Attractions -
1. Museum + Exhibition at Maropeng Visitor Centre
This is a super informative exhibition that teaches us about the evolution and origin of humankind and the different "relatives" of early humans. You can see many fossils and stone tools.
2. There is a very exciting indoor boat tour which is an immersive experience and lets you experience the weather conditions that ancient humans would have experienced.
3. Viewpoint at Museum roof
This gives a good vantage view of the entire Gauteng.
Food - There are some shops selling bites like wrap and sandwiches within the area.
