Wuhai, a lesser-known city in Inner Mongolia | Half desert, half sea
💁🏻♀️Why did I go to Wuhai?
🙋🏻♀️Because I saw a movie 🎬
Vast, expansive, lonely, ethereal...
Golden sands, azure sea, solitary tree...
In that moment, it deeply struck me~
So,
The first stop in the great Northwest, I gave it to Wuhai~
🚘【About the Trip】
D1: Hangzhou - Yinchuan - Wuhai - Huaiyuan Night Market
D2: Wuhai - Lamasery - Zhongwei
What to play❓
✅ 'Wuhai Lake' scenic area.
Nestled against mountains and surrounded by water, the city is embraced by the lake
Wuhai is truly a pearl of the Yellow River~
📍Navigate to 'Wuhai Lake No.1 Pier Scenic Area'
Ticket price is 98 yuan, including round-trip boat fare
Key point
You can only reach the desert to take photos of the popular tree by boat! The last boat is at 16:30!
After disembarking, walk half an hour along the lake in the desert, if you can't walk, pay for an off-road vehicle to the shooting point! Pay attention to the return time!
✅ Manbalag Lamasery
A Tibetan temple built during the Qianlong period, locals call it 'Little Lhasa'.
📍Navigate to 'Lamasery' There is a parking lot at the entrance
Free admission
Key point
Park at the entrance, the temple is halfway up the hill for free, and you need to walk a bit further up! But it's very photogenic! The temple closes at noon and reopens after 14:30. If you rent a costume, it's 200 yuan for 3 hours. There are no rentals around the temple, so rent in Wuhai and bring it over for photos!
🥢What to eat❓
✔Old Ama Mongolian Restaurant
✔Sanping Stewed Meat Restaurant
✔Longheng Braised Noodles
✔Ma Ji Lamb Restaurant
✔Huaiyuan Night Market
Beef pancakes, Nurmai spicy strips, rolled cold skin, Wu's milk fermented rice, I can never get used to the spicy mush.
What to wear❓
In a nutshell, it's all about high SPF protection!
Compared to sunscreen and sun-protective clothing, it's really more luggage-friendly
Bought this sun-protective skin-cooling garment with my sisters, it's very comfortable to walk in the desert~
Super slimming! I even have a waistline now! Fat life's joy! Looks great in photos!
The desert wind is strong!
Hats and sunglasses are best with a strap, and try to wear boots or slippers~

Accommodation suggestion: Near Wuhai Station, it is more convenient to travel
Food Guide: Su De Mongolian Hot Pot: Yogurt is a must-order, fried rice is super fragrant! The beef and mutton are both large in portion and cost-effective!
1Go on a clear day! Only clear sky can take pictures!
2The cost of taking a boat and taking a taxi is actually similar, and it takes one or two hours to walk by taxi. It is recommended to take a boat, which takes 5-10 minutes to arrive, and you can also feel the experience of taking a boat to see the sea in the desert

Do you believe there is a sea in the desert? (Wuhai Travel Guide Winter Edition)
When it comes to Wuhai, I guess many people don't know
Wuhai is located in the northwest of our motherland, a municipality directly under the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
It is an industrial city with half sea water and half desert
-
Here you can see the magnificent scenery of the desert and the long river sunset
Here you can feel the heroic and martial spirit of Genghis Khan
Here you can learn about the Tibetan and Mongolian medical culture of Wuhai
-
Tourist route:
First stop: Manbalasang Temple
A Tibetan temple, no ticket is required, built against the mountain, known as the Little Potala Palace. Because there are many heavy industrial factories nearby, taking pictures will really be shocking, on one side is the solemn Tibetan temple, on the other side is the factory with thick smoke, the sense of separation is really strong!
This is also a Mongolian medical training center, in addition to taking pictures, you can also experience a different culture.
Second stop: Gandershan in Wuhai
There is a museum on it, the ticket is 60, the cable car up and down is 100
There is a super large statue of Genghis Khan on the top of the mountain, which is a landmark building of Wuhai
You can see it almost everywhere in the city
Third stop: Wuhai Lake
The frozen Wuhai Lake in winter seems a lot quieter, but it's also fun to slide on the ice (be sure to pay attention to safety)
📍Location navigation: Jinsha Development Co., Ltd. Mongolian Camp (there is a small road opposite that can directly lead to Wuhai Lake)
But! When we went, this road was blocked, we drove forward for a while, there was a fork in the road to turn right in, you can also get there, just have to walk a bit more.
There are many camels 🐫 on this road, basically all are domesticated, just let go outside, you can take a close-up photo with the camel, as long as you don't provoke the camel, they are generally gentle.
The sunset of Wuhai Lake is really beautiful, and there are not many people in the entire desert, in winter you can directly contract the entire Wuhai Lake!
-
You can also experience boating in the desert sea when you come to Wuhai in summer!

Silk Road Fourth Stop|Wuhai Travel Notes
🌆Wuhai, at first hearing the name, it is easy to be mistaken for a coastal city, but it is actually located in the western part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, formed by the merger of Wuda City and Haibowan City in 1976.
🏹According to historical research, this place was once the frontline of the war between the Central Plains dynasty and the northern nomadic tribes, and it was also an important place for trade and cultural exchanges between the two sides during peaceful times.
🏯The Manbalasang Temple in Hainan District has a history of more than 200 years. The main body is built on a cliff, steep peaks, huge buildings, golden roofs, showing a majestic momentum, and it seems to bring people to the Potala Palace.
🏜️'Watching the sea in the desert' is a major feature here. The west side of Wuhai is only separated by a river from the Ulan Buh Desert. What is surprising is that the 118 square kilometers of Wuhai Lake and the desert have become one, forming a spectacular scene of sand and water interweaving.
⛰️Looking east, the distant Gandor Mountain is not only the city's highest peak, but also becomes a landmark building of Wuhai because of the Genghis Khan statue.
🏞️The arch of the mountain and the nourishment of the water have made this land rich and the people comfortable.
🌄At dusk, many tourists will come to the lake in groups, encounter the romance unique to Wuhai: desert style, lake and mountain scenery, breeze blowing, reeds blooming, enjoy the relaxation of travel in the mountains and rivers, and make people linger.
