Phra That Doi Chang Moob, Chiang Rai 🐘🏔
🐘 Phra That Chang Moob is located on Doi Chang Moob near Doi Tung, Chiang Rai Province, 4 kilometers away from Wat Noi Doi Tung. It is 1,504 meters high and is the highest viewpoint on Doi Tung. It was originally called Doi Chang Moob. It is a small pagoda located on a large rock resembling a crouching elephant. It is surrounded by Bodhi trees and pine trees. You can buy flowers, incense, and candles at the shop before going up. 💐
📜 Legend says that... King Phromkumara drove the Khmer out of the city of Yonok Nak Phan and changed the name to Chai Buri Si Chang Saen, later called Chiang Saen. He built Nakhon Chai Prakan as the new capital instead of Yonok Nak Phan. While visiting his father, he stopped to pay homage to the relics of the Lord Buddha on Doi Tung, but the royal elephant died, so the place was called "Doi Chang Moob" or "Doi Chang Moob". ✨️
