The Dragon Scale Palace combines water caves, maze caves, and dry caves into one, divided into aquatic and terrestrial realms. It is known for its grandeur, strangeness, divinity, and beauty, and is considered a unique cave landscape both within the province and beyond. The park has four major scenic areas, eight wonders, and thirty-two scenic spots, relying on the natural cave at the source of the Gaoqiao Reservoir, forming a comprehensive water conservancy scenic area with cave sightseeing, Tujia song and dance performances, ethnic customs exhibitions, water amusement, catering and accommodation, and conference reception.
The Dragon Scale Palace is a cave landscape that combines both water and dry caves, consisting of water caves, dry caves, and maze caves, with a total length of over 2300 meters, including the 'Little Three Gorges' of the water cave stretching over 500 meters, and the dry caves and maze caves extending over 1800 meters. The average height inside the cave is 50 meters, and it is 30 meters wide. The climate inside the cave is pleasant, warm in winter and cool in summer, with an average temperature of 20°C, suitable for leisure in winter and summer retreat. The Dragon Scale Palace has more than 200 scenic spots, including one altar, two mansions, three gorges, nine dragons, thirteen halls, and twenty-eight treasures, distributed in the 'Little Three Gorges' of the water cave, dry caves, and maze caves. The 'Little Three Gorges' of the water cave features steep peaks on both sides, bizarre rocks, and bone-chillingly cold river water in summer; the dry caves and maze caves have well-preserved stalactites, in strange and varied shapes, with giant columns reaching the sky, long dragons lying across, majestic eagles perched high, low-hanging veils, a hundred-step ladder to heaven, and a water mirror fairyland, all of which are breathtakingly beautiful.
