In Wuyuan, it felt like everything was meticulously prepared for tourists, making it extremely convenient 👍!!! We mainly visited three attractions in Wuyuan: Likeng, Wunvzhou, and Huangling. Each one was so exhausting to explore thoroughly that our feet were sore haha 😅. Wuyuan has many unique ancient towns, but we felt they were somewhat repetitive, mostly featuring small bridges and flowing water. So, we only chose Likeng. To be honest, Likeng is not particularly recommended 😕, as it is filled with a lot of commercialized stuff. We stayed inside the Wunvzhou Scenic Area, so our itinerary there was very flexible 😜. We even watched two iron flower shows and could return to our room to rest whenever we were tired. Wunvzhou feels more suitable for a vacation. Besides the stunning golden iron flower show, the rest doesn't feel like regular tourist attractions, but the design within the scenic area is genuinely beautiful 👏. Moreover, all the hotels in Wunvzhou are uniformly managed, so everything is well-equipped. As for Huangling, it took quite a long car ride to get there, and we took a taxi. Although there was a cable car to take us up, the Huangling Scenic Area is really huge, and it was super tiring for our feet 😭. There are high-altitude sports activities in Huangling, but we hesitated and didn't try them. Now, thinking back, we really regret it 😫. The Wuyuan Li Keng Scenic Area is an ancient village dominated by the Li surname, located 12 kilometers from the Wuyuan county town. It has been a place of cultural prosperity and talent since ancient times, with hundreds of officials and wealthy merchants emerging from the Song to the Qing dynasties. Li Keng is famous for its Hui-style architecture, with ancient Ming and Qing buildings scattered throughout the village. The residential houses and courtyards are built along the stream and against the mountains, creating a quiet and serene atmosphere.

Wuyuan's first stop is supposed to be Moon Bay, but coming in early March is a bit too soon. The trees have just begun to sprout, and the cherry blossoms planted along Cherry Blossom Avenue are still in buds, waiting to bloom. The bamboo rafts have not yet set sail, which feels a bit disappointing, so we can only head to Likeng. Likeng, 7km away from Moon Bay, has the style of a southern Jiangnan water town, with small bridges over flowing water and Huizhou-style residences. Stone-paved paths, streams, black-awning boats, and festive red lanterns of various styles. The pink walls and black tiles are reflected in the small streams, and the 'Three Carvings of Huizhou'—stone, brick, and wood carvings—are visible everywhere. The village still retains some old houses, where one can see the vicissitudes of history. Each household has family instructions posted at the door, which is considered a way of inheriting traditional culture amidst the simple local customs. Unfortunately, the commercialization in Likeng is quite severe, with various shops standing side by side, causing the already small village to lose its original simplicity and tranquility. The collision of old and new has not achieved the desired harmony. Although villagers are still washing in the river, the water is no longer clear, and the smell is less than pleasant. Instead, walking along the path towards Mushroom Pavilion and Banana Spring, the environment is quiet, the air is fresh, and climbing high to overlook the scenery is quite poetic.
