#mediterranean Old Town & Via Garibaldi Highlights: We dove straight into Genoa’s historic center a maze of narrow alleys (caruggi), hidden piazzas, and centuries-old buildings. It felt like walking through a living museum. Via Garibaldi, lined with grand Renaissance palaces, was especially stunning. We toured a few of the Palazzi dei Rolli, and the frescoes and art collections inside were incredible. Porto Antico & Aquarium of Genoa Highlights: The revitalized Old Port was lively and full of energy. We spent time at the Aquarium one of the largest in Europe where we got up close with everything from dolphins to jellyfish. Afterward, we strolled the waterfront, grabbed focaccia from a nearby stall, and watched the boats come and go. Perfect spot to relax and people-watch. Cathedral of San Lorenzo & Torre della Lanterna Highlights: The striped façade of San Lorenzo Cathedral was striking, and the interior was peaceful and ornate. We also made the trek to the Torre della Lanterna, Genoa’s historic lighthouse. It’s a bit of a climb, but the views over the city and port were worth it plus, learning about its maritime history added context to everything we’d seen.
