The Tomb of Khai Dinh is located about 10km southwest of the historic city of Hue in central Vietnam. It takes about 20-30 minutes by car from Hue Railway Station, making it quite accessible. Situated on the hillside of Chau Chu Mountain, the tomb's grandeur is further highlighted by the surrounding natural scenery. Although the Tomb of Khai Dinh is relatively small compared to other imperial tombs, its various decorations and intricate details are overwhelming. The unique architectural beauty, which blends European and traditional Vietnamese styles, is particularly striking. The walls and ceilings are adorned with elaborate mosaics made of numerous colored glass and ceramic pieces, which are truly awe-inspiring. At the center of the tomb stands a statue of Emperor Khai Dinh, which was made in France and transported here. This statue is a historical remnant that reflects the relationship between Vietnam and France at that time. Since there are many stairs and they can be slippery, it is recommended to wear light sneakers when visiting!

There are many steps up to the tomb but well worth the climb. #vietnamtrip Besides being a tomb, this place has a good vibe, a peaceful energy and a beautiful architecture. I don't know anything about the history of the emperor Khai but I think he may have been a good ruler. There is a guide in the top chamber where you can see the portrait and all the beautiful gems and paintings. If you have time to visit a Tomb, this one is a good choice to spend you time and money. The entrance is 150k dong for foreigners. If I'm not mistaken, kids until a certain height or age pay like half this price.

The floor inside the imperial mausoleum is paved with colorful glazed tiles, there are huge murals of auspicious dragons on the walls, and on the left and right sides of the inner corridor there are colorful murals made of floral tiles and broken glass. This imperial mausoleum is truly magnificent and splendid, and it deserves to be called the most beautiful imperial mausoleum in Hue.

Compared to the Hue Imperial City, where the ticket price is less than 200,000 dong, the ticket price of this attraction has increased too much, no wonder it is so sparsely populated. But when you walk inside the top floor and see those exquisite tile stickers, you don’t feel like you’ve missed out on much. On the way back, we saw only one taxi waiting for us when we got down the mountain. Fortunately, we rented a motorcycle to travel independently. If we had called a taxi, it might have been a bit troublesome.
