Exploring the Final Resting Place of the Last Vietnamese Emperor, Khai Dinh Tomb

The Tomb of Khai Dinh is located about 10km southwest of the historic city of Hue in central Vietnam. It takes about 20-30 minutes by car from Hue Railway Station, making it quite accessible. Situated on the hillside of Chau Chu Mountain, the tomb's grandeur is further highlighted by the surrounding natural scenery. Although the Tomb of Khai Dinh is relatively small compared to other imperial tombs, its various decorations and intricate details are overwhelming. The unique architectural beauty, which blends European and traditional Vietnamese styles, is particularly striking. The walls and ceilings are adorned with elaborate mosaics made of numerous colored glass and ceramic pieces, which are truly awe-inspiring. At the center of the tomb stands a statue of Emperor Khai Dinh, which was made in France and transported here. This statue is a historical remnant that reflects the relationship between Vietnam and France at that time. Since there are many stairs and they can be slippery, it is recommended to wear light sneakers when visiting!
