Yatsugurugi Shrine 3-13-30 Tateyashiki, Mizumaki-cho, Onga-gun, Fukuoka 093-201-1095 Open 24 hours A small shrine located in the Tateyashiki district, 5 minutes by car from JR Mizumaki Station, near Prefectural Route 73 along the Onga River. In the quiet grounds, there is a large ginkgo tree estimated to be 1,900 years old that has an overwhelming presence. Its trunk is one of the largest in Japan, with a circumference of about 9.7 meters, and is said to be as thick as five adults holding hands. "Kawamori Shrine" 3-1-1 Yoshida Higashi, Mizumaki-cho, Onga-gun, Fukuoka Open 24 hours a day Open all year round The deities enshrined at Kawamori Shrine are Oyamatsumi-no-kami (the mountain god), Mizo-no-kami (the agricultural water god), and Okitama-no-kami (the land god). Later, the shrine also enshrined the sixth lord of Fukuoka, Tsugutaka, who was a benefactor of the Horikawa River excavation project. In 1750, the year before the second phase of Horikawa River construction began, the Kojin Shrine was located at the planned construction site, but it was temporarily moved to the mountain next to it and enshrined there. In 1760, a new stone-chambered shrine was built by the domain on top of the current Okuishidan within the temple grounds, and this was called Kawamori Daimyojin, and the three deities (Oyamatsumi-no-kami, Mizo-no-kami, and Okitama-no-kami) were moved here and enshrined there. Yasho Shrine 4-1 Ninishi, Mizumaki-cho, Onga-gun, Fukuoka 24-hour worship available No parking This is on a small, low mountain called Ukishima, which has been the site of a shrine since ancient times. According to the shrine's legend, when Emperor Yamato Takeru was subjugating the Kumaso, he climbed onto Ukishima and prayed for victory. When the shrine was under construction in 1714, a stone coffin was unearthed from the ground, and a bell, armor, sword, and other items were discovered. The bottom stone of the stone coffin is still within the grounds. Kifune Shrine 5 Mizumaki-cho, Onga-gun, Fukuoka 24-hour worship available Free parking available This shrine is located in a residential area. There is a free parking lot, so it is easy to visit by car. The nearest station is Higashi-Mizumaki Station on the JR Kyushu Chikuho Main Line. In 1194, Utsunomiya Ueno, a retainer of the Shogun Minamoto no Yoritomo, and Aso Shigeyuki were granted 3,000 cho of land in Onga-gun and Kurate-gun, Chikuzen Province, for their achievements in defeating the Taira clan. Izu Shrine 2-9-1 Korosuekita, Mizumaki-cho, Onga-gun 090-9599-1907 There is a guardian lion standing on its head, which is said to grant fertility if you stroke it. In 1571, it was separated from Koga-mura Kuga Shrine (then Izu Daimyojin). The gods are Hikohohodemi-no-Mikoto, Tamayorihime-no-Mikoto, and Shiotsuchi-no-Oji. The shrine was built on the summit of Myojin-ga-tsuji mountain, and the mountain is now called Kunimyojin-no-Dake. The shrine legend says that this god visited this place from Takachiho-no-miya, as he likes mountain produce.
