Fukuoka's Hidden Cherry Blossom Spot: Asakura City's Amagi Water Culture Village
Nestled in the mountains, the lakeside dam is often a hidden gem for cherry blossom viewing. In Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, "Minaike Lake" is home to the Terauchi Dam, which is also one of Japan's Top 100 Dam Lakes. Surrounding the dam, numerous cherry trees have been planted, especially near the observation deck and downstream plaza, making it a secret cherry blossom viewing spot known only to locals.
Around Minaike Lake, you'll also find the water-themed amusement park "Amagi Water Culture Village," which is divided into an aquaculture area, a green sports area, and a waterfront leisure area. Here, you can enjoy water activities amidst the embrace of nature, creating a truly delightful experience!
During cherry blossom season, the park hosts the "Cherry Blossom Lantern and Water Light Festival," where night cherry blossoms are illuminated by colorful water lanterns. The combination of weeping cherry blossoms and water birds creates an incredibly dreamy atmosphere!
Fukuoka Prize Sakura --- Chikuzen Little Kyoto: Akizuki Castle Ruins
#FukuokaSakura
In Asakura City in Fukuoka Prefecture there is a mountain castle ruin called Akizuki.
Not only does it have rich mountain and river scenery, it also retains the traditional streetscape. It was once prosperous and was known as the "Little Kyoto of Chikuzen."
The 500-meter-long tree-lined road leading to the Akizuki Castle ruins is called the Akizuki Sugi-no-Bao. There are about 200 cherry trees on both sides of the road. The cherry blossom tunnel formed when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom is a stunning sight. It is quite healing to stroll through the streets where quaint buildings and cherry blossoms are intertwined. # At night, the street lights illuminate the cherry blossoms, creating a dreamy scene that is different from the daytime and is quite charming.

Asakura City's Amagi Park: A Hidden Gem for Cherry Blossom Viewing
Amagi Park, a lesser-known cherry blossom spot in Fukuoka Prefecture, is located in Asakura City, southeast of Fukuoka. This expansive public park features a gourd-shaped Maruyama Pond at its center, surrounded by approximately 4,000 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Yaezakura varieties. Every spring, the park transforms into a breathtaking sea of blossoms, earning it the nickname Maruyama Park among locals.
The park boasts a rich natural environment with amenities such as fountains, a lawn plaza, a children's play area, and barbecue-friendly spaces, making it an ideal spot for weekend picnics and outings. During the cherry blossom season, the park hosts an illumination event from sunset until 10 PM, creating a dreamy and romantic night-time cherry blossom viewing experience.
[Fukuoka] Cherry blossoms in Ukiha and Akizuki and Kotohira Onsen
I used my day off work to refresh myself with cherry blossom viewing and a hot spring.
I heard that the weeping cherry trees in Ukiha were in full bloom, so I went there.
I had some Ukiha apple curry on the way there, and the apple pie was delicious!
Unfortunately, it was cloudy that day, but the weeping cherry trees were in full bloom.
After that, I drove to the ruins of Akizuki Castle and enjoyed the cherry blossom trees in the castle town.
Since I had come all the way to Ukiha on the way back, I went to Kotohira Onsen in Hita.
The alkaline hot spring made my skin smooth.
2,000 yen for a family bath is cheap, so I was glad.
#cherryblossomviewing
Akizuki's Doll Festival
I went to Akizuki to see the Hina dolls, which are on display on weekends until March 5th.
The many beautiful Hina dolls are lined up on the stairs leading to the shrine at the Akizuki Castle ruins.
Akizuki is Kyushu's Little Kyoto.
The seasons of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves are also beautiful.
Although the display is on weekends, they will also be on display on March 3rd, the Girl's Festival.

Hato mameya's cakes and cream puffs are delicious
#tripmemory2022
I stopped by on the way back from Haratsuru Onsen and bought a roll cake and cream puffs.
Founded in 1885, this is a long-established pigeon bean shop that was invented to prevent children from feeling hungry.
But they have a variety of sweets and they are very delicious.
There are mascot signs inside the shop and in the toilets, which are very cute.
1910-3 Miyano, Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture It is located 3 minutes from Asakura IC on the Oita Expressway.
I went to Haratsuru Onsen. (Bath)
#tripmemory2022
There is an indoor bath and an open-air bath.
The spring quality is a double skin-beautifying water of weak alkaline simple spring and simple sulfur spring.
At the entrance to the bath, there is a life-sized panel of honorary manager Hideki Takahashi to welcome you.
After passing the shoe lockers, there is a relaxation room for both men and women, with massage chairs (free of charge), sofas, and vending machines.
There are free lockers here and in the men's and women's changing rooms, so you can rest assured that your valuables will be safe.
The weather was good on the day we arrived, but the next morning it snowed and the weather was bad, so many people rushed to get home and the bath was reserved for us.

Akizuki Town in Spring
#springitinerary if you're cruising through Fukuoka in spring, Akizuki Town is a chill detour that feels like a time machine to Edo-era Japan. Known as Chikuzen’s Little Kyoto, this place is packed with history and nature, making it perfect for a laid-back day trip.
The town's roots go way back, established as Akizuki Domain in 1623 by Kuroda Nagaoki, the third son of Fukuoka’s feudal lord. Today, remnants like the Kuromon and Nagayamon gates still stand, adding a touch of old-school charm.
Spring is prime time here. Sugi-no-Baba Street transforms into a 500-meter cherry blossom tunnel, with around 200 trees lining the path. At night, bare light bulbs illuminate the blossoms, creating a magical atmosphere.
Beyond the blooms, the town offers scenic walks, historic sites, and cozy spots to grab a bite. Whether you're into history, nature, or just soaking in the vibe, Akizuki's spring charm is hard to beat.

Spring Stroll with a Side of History
#springitinerary Akizuki Castle Ruins in spring? Totally worth it. The old castle might be ruins now, but the vibe is still strong, think stone walls, moats, and cherry blossoms doing their thing all around. Back in the day, this castle was a samurai stronghold, built in the 1500s, so walking around feels like stepping back in time (minus the battles and samurai, thankfully).
Spring makes it extra pretty, with cherry trees blooming and the whole place covered in soft pink petals. The trails around the ruins are easy to stroll, perfect for just chilling and soaking in some history mixed with nature. There are also some cool info signs if you wanna nerd out a bit. Whether you’re into history or just want a peaceful spot with beautiful spring vibes, Akizuki Castle Ruins is a sweet little hidden gem to check out.
April Blooms
Also known as Maruyama Park, Amagi is a sprawling green space where local residents like to go for some rest and relaxation. In spring, over 4,000 Yoshino cherry trees that surround the park’s central pond start to blossom. The sight of their colorful petals reflecting in the water is truly spectacular! In the evening, the trees and the park fountain are lit up, creating a fantastical atmosphere that’s like something out of a dream. If you ever get the chance, experience this famous Fukuoka cherry blossom viewing spot for yourself.

Traveling through the Japanese countryside
I happened to walk along a Japanese country road that I had no reason to go to. I found a place to stay nearby, the air was good, there was a river running next to me, and it was a pleasant experience. Fukuoka Asakura Amagi... A pleasant meal at a delicious soba restaurant...
A Soba Restaurant in the Forest of Asakura, Fukuoka
🕰️ Business Hours

Saturday and Sunday: 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
📍 Location: 182-1 Akizuki Nocho, Asakura City, Fukuoka Prefecture, 838-0011
Located in the forest of Akizuki, the soba restaurant 'Chikita' is always bustling with customers. Expect to wait about an hour before entering. We ordered two types of soba: one served with warm dipping sauce and another cold soba garnished with plum. Before the soba was ready, a beautifully presented appetizer plate with bite-sized dishes was served, each one refined and delicious. We also enjoyed 100% pure kudzu mochi for dessert.

Fukuoka Kirin Beer Museum Visit and Tasting Review!
The Fukuoka Kirin Beer Museum is truly an intriguing place! If you love beer, this is a must-visit destination. Upon entering the museum, you can learn about the history and brewing process of Kirin beer. The beer-making process is displayed in an engaging way, and you can also explore various beer-related products. The highlight of the visit was the tasting corner! You can sample different types of Kirin beer and experience their unique characteristics firsthand. Kirin Ichiban and Kirin Lager stood out with their smooth and rich flavors. After the tasting, you can browse the souvenir shop themed around Kirin beer, making it a great spot to pick up some memorabilia. This is a must-see attraction for beer enthusiasts! If you're traveling to Fukuoka and want to enjoy a relaxing beer experience, I highly recommend the Kirin Beer Museum.

[Dangoan] Come here when summer comes!!!
When you think of Fukuoka, you probably think of the Hakata/Tenjin area or Itoshima...but wait!!! I want to recommend [Dangoan]! It's a super popular restaurant where you have to wait 2-3 hours in the summer😌As you can see in the fourth photo, there was a really long line❗️It was a long wait! You may think so, but it's cool in the mountains and the freshly caught mountain trout is just too delicious😭💞
Also, when it comes to summer, it's somen and tokoroten☀️
Eating outside near the river while feeling the negative ions is exquisite💯
It's a place I definitely recommend you visit👀

🎐Explore the Fukuoka "Café Yamaguchi" store🎐
Family 👋, found a super delicious coffee shop in Fukuoka - Coffee Yamaguchi!
It is hidden in the corner of the street and looks like a quaint Japanese wooden house, full of the charm of time. As you step into the store, the rich aroma of coffee blends with the fragrance of wood, like walking into a warm embrace.
The store's furnishings are full of ingenuity, with old furniture and retro ornaments, each of which tells a story. The sunlight shines through the window panes, and the light and shadows dance on the floor, which is very comfortable.
The coffee here is carefully roasted and extracted by the owner. Holding a cup of hot coffee in your hand, leaning back on a soft chair, you can savor the coffee and feel its richness and warmth. Whether you are enjoying some quiet time alone or gathering with friends, this is the perfect place.
If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, why not come to Coffee Yamaguchi and let yourself be surrounded by the aroma of coffee in this quaint little world, and find a trace of tranquility and beauty~#福岗景点

The meat is served in chunks, and after grilling both sides until browned, it is cut into small pieces with scissors and cooked through✂️
For salt-grilled chicken, you can choose from miso or six types of salt, but I liked Himalayan red salt😋
For sauce-grilled chicken, you grill it, dip it in sauce, and then grill it again and again for a fragrant taste that goes well with rice🫢︎💕︎
The chewy texture and moderate elasticity that only local chicken can offer, and the more you chew it, the more delicious it becomes, and it's delicious🤤✨

Haraho Hot Spring! Like a paradise on earth🥲🥲
#FukuokaItinerary
In the busy daily life, I always want to find a pure land where my soul can rest. This time, I set my destination at Harabo Onsen. Unexpectedly, the traffic jam during the morning rush hour made the journey to Yuanbao extremely long. The nearly three-hour drive really tested my patience.
As soon as I stepped off the platform, I saw the sparsely populated countryside. At that moment, I couldn't help but wonder if I had been cheated. However, when I stepped into Harabo Onsen, all my doubts disappeared.
After entering the Harabo Hot Spring, it feels like entering another world. It is simply a different world here! The surrounding scenery is breathtakingly beautiful, and the tranquility and comfort are something that cannot be experienced in the city. 🎏🎏🎏🎏
I just happened to encounter the Harabo River Light Festival recently. Looking at the lights on the river, I couldn't help but sigh from the bottom of my heart, why is Japan's aesthetic culture so outstanding. Those simple and repetitive elements can be so vivid in their design. There is really a lot to learn from them🤲🏽
The hot spring hotel we stayed in this time was also quite good. The biggest highlight was that there were many open-air private hot springs ♨️👘🧺 In the morning, there was drizzle in the sky. Soaking in the hot spring surrounded by bamboo forests, feeling the warmth and the blend of nature, my body and mind were greatly relaxed. It was so comfortable~
Yuanbao Hot Spring is not only a journey of physical relaxation, but also a baptism of the soul. Next time, I will definitely come again 🧖🏽♀️👏🏼👏🏼

Kawara Shrine, standing above the town of Kawara, is a historic site beloved by locals. Cherry blossoms lining the shrine’s approach reach their peak from late March to early April, creating a breathtaking view.

#Fukuoka Attractions
The tranquil hot spring town of Harabo Onsen seems to be hidden in a dream. The gentle sound of the stream and the green of the distant mountains are intertwined, as if they are the whispers of nature.
A long and narrow stone road leads to the hot spring hotel. Soft petals are scattered on the bluestone, like flowers scattered by fairies. The aroma of traditional Japanese desserts wafts from the shops along the way, making people want to stop and linger to savor them.
The hot spring water here is even more unforgettable. The crystal clear natural spring water is like nourishing nectar, flowing on the skin, instantly forgetting all fatigue. Bathing in the cypress bath, the rising heat instantly dispels the coldness in my heart. The faint sulfur scent that permeates the water is like the gentle caress of a reclusive master, immersing the body and mind in a pleasant tranquility, as if you are in a paradise.
