Located in the northern part of Minoh City near Osaka, Katsuo-ji Temple is a popular destination known for its thousands of red Daruma dolls. Despite its somewhat inconvenient transportation options, visitors flock to the temple to capture stunning photos and seek good fortune with a Daruma doll. If you visit during spring, Katsuo-ji Temple offers an additional attraction: cherry blossoms! The temple grounds feature an elegant weeping cherry tree whose branches sway gracefully in the wind, creating a serene and dreamy atmosphere. Additionally, the area is adorned with various cherry blossom species, including Yaezakura, Satozakura, and Yamazakura, transforming every corner of Katsuo-ji Temple into a picturesque scene. Katsuo-ji Temple is about an hour's drive from Osaka city center. To get there, take the Midosuji Line subway to its final stop, Senri-Chuo, and then transfer to Bus No. 29, which goes directly to the temple. While the route is straightforward, bus services are infrequent, so plan your timing carefully.

It is said that Mount Fuji rewards early risers. Compared to Lake Kawaguchiko, I prefer Lake Yamanaka. Although there was no "reverse Fuji," I was already very satisfied. But actually, just a little bit past "the park," the scenery was also amazing. There's no need to wait specifically. After cycling around the lake, had brunch at Denny's. In the afternoon, took a bus to Lake Kawaguchiko. A perfect day. ❗️Tips The lake bus only starts running at 7:00. To see the sunrise early, you need to take a taxi or stay near Hirano. There are swans in many places, especially at Shiratori-hama, and also at Hirano. Bicycle rentals are available from 9:00 for JPY 2,000 for two hours. Rented from an elderly gentleman near Shiratori-hama. Two hours is enough to cycle around the lake and take photos. You can choose a hotel in Hirano or near a bus stop, which is very convenient.
