Osaka's off-the-beaten-path | The journey is long, but it's really photogenic
'Katsuo-ji Temple' strictly speaking is not very far, take the subway to Senri Chuo Station, get off and take the No. 29 bus for about half an hour to get there, but what needs to be noted is that there are fewer buses on weekdays, only three a day, so you need to check the time in advance, it's a bit troublesome, but it's very worth it! There are Daruma dolls everywhere in the temple, they are really cute and photogenic!! And there are very few tourists on weekdays, the scenery is also very beautiful~ It should look even better in the autumn leaves season!

Katsuoji: A Must-Visit Place!!!
We absolutely love this place. It's incredibly interesting, especially with the Daruma dolls. Everywhere in Katsuoji, you'll find Daruma dolls placed around, starting from the entrance, which is very cute. The nature is beautiful 🥳🥳. There are also activities to do, such as stamping at various points (you'll receive a stamp frame with your ticket purchase). There are also souvenirs available, like Daruma charms and many other items, all at reasonable prices.
📍Daruma: A symbol of good luck and peace. You can make wishes too 📍

📍Katsuo-ji Temple, Osaka, Japan 🇯🇵
Katsuo-ji Temple, nestled in the peaceful mountains north of Osaka, is famously known as the "Temple of a Thousand Daruma." Visitors flock here to seek blessings of luck and victory. The temple is adorned with countless Daruma dolls, representing perseverance and success. Visitors often purchase these dolls to set goals and wishes, returning them once their aspirations are achieved.
🚍Getting There:
Katsuo-ji is about a 30-minute drive from central Osaka or accessible via a combination of train and bus. The nearest station is Minoh-Kayano, from where you can catch a Katsuoji Hankyu-Bus (6-B platform) to the temple.
‼️Don’t forget to collect all 6 stamps scattered throughout the temple grounds to assemble a special commemorative postcard! It’s a fun way to explore the temple and take home a unique memory.

When you pass the pond and go up the stairs, you can see the main spot where many Kachidaruma are piled up
But they're all red and looking at you, so it's overwhelming even from afar🫢
And the area in front of it is full of people taking pictures!! You have to check the timing and come out quickly to take pictures and go in🤣
While looking around the temple, there are mini darumas here and there
There are so many of them on the floor, and they are floating on rocks, trees, and water
The cute atmosphere is so cute and everywhere is a photo spot😍
I thought there wouldn't be much to see other than the darumas
But there is a large pond and a large garden, and the view is nice because it is on the top of the mountain
So it was great to walk slowly🍃

Osaka, Japan | Katsuoji Temple
|Katsuoji Temple.
〒562-8508 Minoh City, Osaka Prefecture Aimaya 2914-1500 yen/person
8:00-17:00 on weekdays, extended to 18:00 on weekends for self-driving (traffic is not that convenient)
Upper May Mountain ¥300 + parking fee for one and a half hours ¥700
As soon as you enter the park, you are surrounded by Bodhidharma. You can see Bodhidharma in every corner! The tour takes about 1.5 hours, and the instructions for going up and down the mountain are very clear. There are small Bodhidharma that everyone prays for hidden in many corners along the way ~ a whole side Bodhidharma is really easy to film! Yushou is also very cute!
Katsuoji Temple is a relatively small temple around Osaka.
The disadvantage is that transportation is not very convenient, so I chose to drive there.
There is a short section of winding mountain road on the way up May Mountain, so be careful!

Is a nice place. Buddhist temple
Katsuō-ji (勝尾寺, Katsuō-ji) is a Buddhist temple in Minō city, north of Osaka, Japan. The word "katsu" in the temple's name refers to winning. People buy daruma dolls hoping to obtain "winner's luck".If the wish is fulfilled, the daruma is often returned to the temple and left somewhere on the grounds.

Osaka's Favorite Attractions
The most beloved spot in Osaka is Katsuo-ji Temple!!
It's so healing and the environment is serene.
Luckily, there weren't many people when I visited.
Taking a quiet walk there really calms and soothes the mind.
I bought a small Daruma doll and wrote my wish on its back.
If your wish comes true, remember to come back and give thanks.
Also, don't forget to stamp your Daruma postcard at each checkpoint.
Unfortunately, I went too late and couldn't complete it.
I left with some regrets, but I'll come back next time.

YOLO around the world
A Must-Visit Near Osaka! The Home of Daruma, Katsuo-ji Temple.
I took a train to Minoo Kaidanno Station and then a bus. The bus schedule can be checked on the official website, and the journey takes about an hour.
Even though it was a rainy day, it couldn't dampen my enthusiasm for Katsuo-ji Temple. The grounds are extensive but well-organized, and don't forget to try the free hand-covered postcard experience, it's super beautiful!
You can also come here to enjoy the autumn leaves. Katsuo-ji Temple, with a history of over 700 years, is definitely worth multiple visits.
There isn't much food for sale here, so it's a good idea to bring your own. After a long walk, you can rest at the entrance while waiting for the bus.
💰Admission Fee
Adults (high school and above): 500 yen
Middle and elementary school students: 400 yen
Children: 100 yen

A Unique Attraction Worth the Trip
This morning, I made a trip to Katsuo-ji Temple in the outskirts of Osaka. It's a bit out of the way, but for the Daruma dolls, it was worth the special trip. The temple offers free blank postcards, which you can turn into adorable stamped postcards at six different stamping stations. Cute Daruma dolls can be seen all over the park, adding a touch of whimsy❤️. After a long ride, it was certainly worthwhile👍!

Katsuji Temple
Located in the northern part of Osaka, Katsuji Temple is a great place to visit, offering a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the city!
The many Daruma games or shapes around the temple make for a wonderful half-day trip. The games or shapes traditionally represent good fortune.
I visited the temple in January, but I think the best time to visit is in the spring when the temple is surrounded by spring flowers.

Katsuo-ji Temple in Osaka is really photogenic
It's really photogenic. Nestled in the mountains of northern Osaka, this temple is a great spot for photography, especially the Daruma dolls. Make sure to visit when the weather is good.
The temple is filled with small Daruma dolls, which visitors buy and leave at the temple to pray for blessings, along with large Daruma dolls.
A visit to the temple takes about 1-2 hours, and if you like taking photos📸, two hours is sufficient. This includes the round-trip bus time (refer to the guide I posted previously for detailed information on transportation➕time).
The temple offers amulets, allows you to paint your own Daruma, fortune-telling, and has a gift shop, but there are no dining options nearby.

Shogoin Temple
Shogoin Temple is famous for its blessings of victory. Throughout history, famous generals would go there to pray for victory in battle. Many years later, it attracted many believers who sought victory in various occasions such as exams and employment.
Walking inside the temple, you will find Daruma dolls of all sizes everywhere - on trees, on the floor, and in between the stones. It is very interesting and cute.
Everyone can choose a Daruma doll for themselves, write down their wishes, and place it in their favorite spot in the garden or even take it home.
Getting to Shogoin Temple is not difficult. You can choose to take a train and a bus. It takes about one hour and fifteen minutes from Namba Station, but remember to check the bus schedule in advance. Don't miss the bus because there is only one bus every hour. The round trip has only three to four buses, and sometimes they may leave a few minutes early.

Osaka's niche travel|Into the Dharma--a good-looking niche temple
Japanese temple will surprise me once and for all, Dharma appears in various forms in the various corners of Shengwei Temple. It can be said that the brush has a sense of existence. For academics, there is a special need to take a test tour to pay homage here. The rabbit that got Xiaoji was very satisfied. He didn't want a big win, but only a small win.
Dharma Wishing Dafa:
When making a wish, darken Bodhidharma's left eye, and then wait until the wish is reached before returning to blacken the right eye of Bodhidharma. So Dharma looks the same, but every pair of eyes is different.
is one and a half hours away from downtown Osaka. Metro + bus is a more economical option. Winter is beautiful, let alone other seasons!
