This temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, a revered deity in Hinduism, and serves as a significant pilgrimage site, especially during the annual Thaipusam festival.  The temple was inspired by the natural shape of the cave entrance, which resembles a ‘vel’—the divine spear associated with Lord Murugan. Devotees and visitors reach the temple by ascending a flight of 272 steps, leading into the vast limestone cave where the shrine is situated.  Inside, the temple is adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant statues depicting various Hindu deities and mythological scenes.
