Emperor Franz Joseph l spent his summers here and it's where he met Sissi, so it must be lovely! It's certainly worth the stopover. Bad Ischl thus became famous as a royal spa and resort. 🌸In the scorching summer of 1853, the red thread of fate brought Franz Joseph and Princess Sissi together here. A grand engagement ceremony at the Hotel Austria opened their love story. As depicted in the movie, it must have been a beautiful summer day filled with flowers. 👗However, Princess Sissi's married life was not smooth sailing. A great place of historic significance and romanticised by Elizabeth the beautiful empress whose life was tragically cut short by an anarchist in Italy. The garden is more an " jadin anglaise"and out of season as visited in October. We have enjoyed the visit and appreciate all seen, our tour was in English which was wonderful.
