Restaurant Week Sukiyaki Feast
Recently, many restaurants have been offering promotions to attract local diners. Tonight, we visited Shoubei for a sukiyaki meal.
Appetizer Sashimi Trio
The live octopus was tender and chewy, as if it had just been caught. The mozuku seaweed with vinegar was silky smooth, sliding down the throat effortlessly. The bonito had a strong fish flavor, contrasting sharply with the mozuku seaweed.
Arima Sansho with Anago Chawanmushi
Surprisingly, the sansho pepper paired perfectly with the chawanmushi, and the fresh eel added a touch of happiness to every bite.
Finally, it was time for the sukiyaki. We started with Wagyu ribeye, which had evenly distributed fat and a rich beef flavor. We first tried it plain, then dipped it in a thin egg wash, which offered a different taste. Before we knew it, we had finished a bowl of rice.
Next was the Wagyu sirloin, which melted in the mouth and was incredibly tender. We quickly finished another bowl of rice. Lastly, we had the Kurobuta sirloin, thin slices of pork paired with sukiyaki sauce, tofu, and enoki mushrooms, making for a heartwarming dish.
The chef then served us a maitake mushroom clear soup to cleanse our palates and cut through the richness.
Next was the specialty udon stir-fried in a unique sauce. The udon was chewy and bouncy, with colorful sesame seeds on top adding a special touch.
Dessert was pistachio ice cream with Hokkaido melon, a perfect ending to a satisfying meal.

JJLeung
Traditional Kansai Sukiyaki.
My favorite cuisine is Japanese food, and today I went to this restaurant for sukiyaki. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients delivered directly from Japan, serving top-grade A4 A5 Wagyu beef. The chef cooks in front of you, allowing you to enjoy the food while admiring the chef's skills, which is really professional.
Supreme Wagyu Set
The ingredients are carefully selected by the chef, and it's super satisfying to eat.
-Appetizer Trio-
✦ Monkfish Liver
Seasoned with chili radish puree, paired with smooth monkfish liver
✦ Simmered Abalone
With yuzu citrus sauce, very flavorful and chewy
✦ Crab Meat and Crab Paste Tofu
Crab paste mixed into tofu topped with crab meat, sweet and smooth upon tasting
✦ Sashimi Quartet
Hokkaido Scallop | Otoro Tuna | Yellowtail | Botan Shrimp
The sashimi is very fresh, and the otoro melts in your mouth.
✦ Wagyu Beef Seaweed Roll x Wagyu Sashimi
Wagyu beef with green apple bits for added texture, paired with sea urchin wrapped in seaweed is incredibly rich. The staff suggests adding shiso leaves for a fresher and sweeter taste. There's also a bite of Wagyu sashimi wrapped around green onions, letting you fully taste the buttery flavor of the beef.
✦ Steamed Dish
Salmon Roe and Crab Meat Chawanmushi is smooth and tender, with crab roe and crab meat adding more flavor.
✦ Pan-fried Beef Tongue
Medium-rare with a pan-fried cooking method for a firmer texture. Sprinkled with light snow salt, paired with chili radish puree and green onions, the taste is very rich. Mix the green onions at the bottom and eat together for an appetizing flavor.
✦ A5 Wagyu Ribeye
✦ A4 Wagyu Sirloin
The Kansai sukiyaki cooking method is to first sear the beef, then season with sukiyaki sauce. The sukiyaki sauce here is lighter in taste, highlighting the flavor of the Wagyu beef more. The A5 Wagyu ribeye is richer in fat, and I personally prefer the A5 Wagyu ribeye with its full fat flavor. Paired with yellow egg yolk, the meat becomes even softer and smoother.
✦ Wagyu Stir-fried Udon
Wagyu stir-fried udon, with a chewy and al dente noodle texture. Although already full, of course, I had to finish such delicious food.
✦ Dessert
Super sweet melon x pistachio ice cream
