Amazing Baoji: Treasures Just Right Here
#chinatrip
Baozi City is located on the left bank of the Weihe River. It is located in Shaanxi Province and is one of the key points of the railway connecting Lanzhou and Xi'an. In addition, an expressway passes through Baozi, connecting the city with the capital of Shaanxi Province, Xi'an.
Baozi is one of the Chinese cities of interest to tourists. Half a century ago, about 100 people lived here, today the city's population reaches several million people. The strategically important location of the city, which has been considered a place of intersection of several trade routes since ancient times, played a huge role in this.
For the first time, Baozi is mentioned in historical documents of the III century BC. For fans of the ancient history of China, this city will seem like a real El Dorado. There are many historical sights and cultural monuments preserved here. In addition, there are several historical moments associated with the city.
It was here that perhaps the most famous and revered Chinese emperor, Huang di, was born. This is one of the main mythical characters from the history of China, who is considered the ancestor of all Chinese and the founder of Taoism. This is probably why the legendary Taoist Jingtai Guan Temple is considered the main cultural and historical pearl of Baozi.
Jingtai Guan Temple is one of the oldest shrines of Taoism. It is built in the traditional Chinese style, but the temple features three turrets: gold, silver and jasper. The temple is not a monolithic structure. It includes the pavilion of the Jasper Lord, the Palace of the Three Purest, the Palace of Patriarch Liu, the Cave of the Wise Mother and the Cave of Sanfeng. Not only tourists come here every year, but also pilgrims from all over the world following the path of Tao.
The sights of the temple do not end there. A 700-year-old oak tree grows in the courtyard of the Jingtai guan Temple. Local guides say that it was planted by the hands of the monk Sanfeng himself, the founder of the Wudang Wu-shu movement. Sanfeng is revered by Taoists as one of the main legendary figures in the history of this philosophical teaching, therefore, the veneration of this ancient cypress is a kind of worship ritual for Taoist monks.
Baozi is a city standing at the crossroads of times and cultures. On the one hand, it is a modern metropolis with a developed infrastructure, on the other hand, it is the ancient history, philosophy and culture of Taoism, which is already inseparable from the city of Baozi.
