A little stop off on a road trip consisting of Sevilla, Jerez, Cadiz (next review) and Tarifa on the way back to home! Cobble streets and close proximity to Sevilla and Cadiz made this a great one night stop over which helped give us the chance to explore a little! Finding a random pizza place behind a street, to eating a chocolate covered waffle from a super super funky shop was amazing…however nothing beat the fact they covered and old church into a Mercadona! it’s not the best but it certainly made for some interesting architectural in the cheese aisle! Again not something to add to your list for a specific trip but a stopover is the best!

I love traveling abroad and visit five times a year, so I'd like to introduce a one-day plan for Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, which I actually visited. Jerez is a beautiful city in Andalusia, famous for its rich history, culture, wine, and flamenco. It's a small city, so I think you can enjoy it in one day, including a wine tour! ①Alcazar The Alcazar of Jerez is a fortress built by Muslims in the 12th century. The labyrinth-like intricate courtyard is interesting. If you go up to the top, you can see the view of the city. ②Cathedral A magnificent Baroque cathedral built in the 17th century, with an attractive, solemn exterior. I only saw it from the outside. There is also a winery (Bodegas Tio Pepe) nearby. Opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 10:00-13:00, 17:00-20:00 Sunday: 10:00-13:00 Admission fee: 5€ for adults ③ Numerous wineries When you walk around the city, you will find sherry wineries everywhere. You need to make a reservation in advance to visit, but just walking around and looking at the exterior is irresistible for sherry lovers... Jerez de la Frontera train station is located at Plaza de la Estacaion Ferrocarril s/n, approximately 500m east of the historic city center. It is a building of great architectural value and is therefore protected as a cultural asset. This gorgeous historic building is still in use and is a pleasant surprise for tourists visiting Jerez. The station combines Renaissance and Mudéjar elements, which are reflected in many of the decorative elements. The ornate building is on one side of the railway line and on the other side is a simple curtain wall. They are spanned by a freestanding, unremarkable steel and glass roof. Those viewing the station from the east side could be forgiven for not giving the station a second glance. Andalucia Tour ~ Jerez Amazing place to visit. Hidden away on a side road. The Time Museum was formerly a wine cellar, which was once the owner's home. Very beautiful palace/mansion full of period pieces from the 17th century onwards Great exhibitions and their collection of rare and historic clocks will amaze you. Beautiful music accompanies your stroll through the exhibition. Tip: Please arrive before the hour. We arrived there on the hour and there was a bell concert going on. Andalucia Tour ~ Jerez Tio Pepe Winery gave us a wonderful tour, full of history and wine curiosity. Start with a small train ride around the winery grounds, followed by a walking tour of the old factory and storage rooms. Also, the tasting experience was incredible: 4 delicious tapas paired with 4 excellent wines for less than 30€ per person. Jerez Cathedral is an architectural gem that you cannot miss when visiting this city. Its impressive exterior and majestic interior will amaze you. If you’re staying in Jerez, we definitely recommend visiting the Gothic-style Jerez Cathedral and immersing yourself in the city’s history and culture. The entrance fee is 8 euros and for 1 euro more you can go up the tower as you get a great view of the city. Andalucia Tour ~ Jerez A beautiful church that you must visit no matter what, the exterior is impressive and the interior is even more impressive. The construction details are exquisite and the craftsmanship is impeccable. Its structural hierarchy is very much from the late Southern European Renaissance, but there is a great line and ease to the way it is assembled to the base of the backrest system. All in all the building is brilliant, even though it has been overwhelmed by the disorderly modern urban layout. Andalucia Tour ~ Jerez The Alcázar in Jerez de la Frontera is a silent witness to Andalusia's rich history. This impressive complex was built during the Almohad rule in the 12th century and has survived centuries of conquest and transformation. Each stone and arch tells a story, from the Muslim days to its re-conversion into a Christian fortress. Here, time seems to stop and history comes to life. I really enjoyed visiting the Alcazar in Jerez. It’s not as crowded as Seville and Granada, but still has plenty to offer visitors. Andalucia Tour ~ Jerez The Plaza Mamelon connects the historic and commercial centre of Jerez with Avenida Mayor Álvaro Domecque and was one of the main roads of urban expansion and development during the 20th century. It is called the "Alameda of Seville", but people have always called it the Plaza Mamelon because it is located on a low, nipple-shaped hill. In 1893, the plaza was beautified, and in 1952 the Monument to San Juan Bautista de La Sal was added. In 1987 architect Juan Ramón Díaz Pinto created a large lake in the center of the square. When the city hosted the World Equestrian Games in 2002, the Gran Break sculpture complex by sculptor Eduardo Soriano was added to the nearby plaza area. The bronze equestrian monument depicts a chariot pulled by five horses. The carriages were occupied by characters dressed in traditional Andalusian costumes, and some passengers sat alongside the ladies. Yes this is where those famous dancing horses come from and it is also a fine place to watch or even learn flamenco. When i was in Seville, there were a lot of daytrips offered via tours that would help explore most of Andalusia. But this time around I was in no rush. So i decided to do all those places that have long interested me. And the Andalusian region is one of my favourites in Spain. I try my best to avoid it in summer though. Once i was through with Seville, I booked myself a train ticket. At around 10:12am i got on a train from Seville station. It took a little less than an hour to get there. The city of Jerez de la Frontera is known for its rich cultural heritage, including its historic center, sherry production, and flamenco music. Personally, i found the city to be quite friendly and fascinating. I was put up in the center of the town as this has always served me well. It makes things walkable distances or at least I rely a lot on it. In Jerez the most important sights of tourist interest are the cathedral and the alcazar. Beside the Alcazar is the Paseo de la Alameda Vieja, which is a broad esplanade where people like to stroll. It's beautiful with the acacia trees with their violet flowers that ring this esplanade. One of the principal squares is the Plaza del Arenal, a very large plaza with a monument in the middle of the plaza to General Miguel Primo de Rivera. There is another large plaza called plaza de mamelon and besides it is is palecia domec. Other than that i visited the monastery of la cartuja.
