#gw2022jp I visited Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in honor of the 13 Lords of Kamakura. I took the cable car from Iwashimizu Hachimangu Station, and walked down from Omotesando on the way back. At the foot of the mountain, there is a pine tree that is said to have been planted by Minamoto no Yoritomo. Admission is free, and it has a slightly desolate feel, so feel free to throw in some coins. This is a World Heritage Site that has been standing for 1,000 years.

Bamboo and stone lanterns invite visitors. Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine is located on top of Mt. Otokoyama in Yawata City and has a beautiful vermilion-painted shrine building (national treasure). The shrine, which is said to have used madake bamboo from around Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine and has a deep connection to bamboo, is lit up by the light of the bamboo lanterns. I took the 8:10 Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine Approach Cable Car to visit Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine. The seats at the very front and very back were heated and warm. It takes about 30 minutes to walk there. After getting off the cable car, there is a short walk to the main shrine, but the air is clear and it feels good. Since it was early in the morning, there were hardly any visitors and I was able to worship in a solemn atmosphere. The shrine building, which is also designated as a national treasure, is very beautiful. The Minami-somon Gate opens at 6:00, but the gift shop and prayers open at 9:00. There is also an observation deck where you can get a panoramic view of Kyoto's cityscape, which was amazing! #DomesticTravelStrategy

The "Iwashimizu" in Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine is said to be due to the fact that there has been a strange sacred spring on Otokoyama since ancient times. It is said that the name was given even before the establishment of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine. The water source, which was originally located around the Higashi-somon Gate, was cut off by repeated construction.
