Formerly known as the Shanghai Puxi Hotel, it opened in 2009 and is located next to Shanghai New Railway Station (formerly known as the Old North Station) in Jing'an District, a prime location. In the past, when transportation was less developed, hotels around the New Railway Station, regardless of their star rating, were always bustling with business. This five-star hotel was considered quite high-end at the time. 🛏️ Soundproofing/Cleanliness: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The hotel is close to the train station, but the soundproofing in the rooms is excellent. I slept very soundly at night. The rooms were spotless, with no areas left unclean. 🏘️ Room Type/Layout: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The room was spacious and well-designed, without the outdated hardware issues mentioned online. I think guests should be aware of the hotel's age before checking in, as it's not a newly built hotel. 🛌 Amenities/Facilities: 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The mattress is a Slumberland, and it's very comfortable. The room is equipped with two medium-height goose down pillows, which don't have much rebound, but the housekeeping department provides latex pillows, which is thoughtful for those with neck and shoulder problems. Afternoon tea and happy hour are served in the same area, which used to be a restaurant and now serves as the executive lounge. The afternoon tea pastries are well-made, not too sweet, and although the selection isn't extensive, everything tastes good. The hot dishes and snacks at happy hour are delicious, there's a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, and the staff are happy to mix cocktails. The hotel's breakfast restaurant is large, with plenty of seating, a wide variety of food, and decent taste. 💗 Other tips: The hotel staff are friendly, proactive, and attentive, making you feel very comfortable. The surrounding area is lively, with plenty of entertainment and leisure options. The only minor drawback is that the gym is in another building, which might be inconvenient if you're short on time. Hotel near my home, I took a walk and went in to take some Christmas photos. The InterContinental Jing'an has been open for many years, and this year's Christmas theme is quite nice. You can think of it as a cheaper version of the Waldorf Astoria, with the same reindeer sleigh, just on a smaller scale and not as grand as the Waldorf Astoria on the Bund. But to be fair, this silk Christmas tree is quite beautiful, connected to the hotel's lobby with silk ribbons, making for dreamy photos. If you're passing by, you can take a look, but there's no need to make a special trip just for photos.

I redeemed it for 499 RMB per night with the CITIC credit card's 365 benefits, for a two-night stay in a king bed room without breakfast. The hotel also helped to upgrade to a city view king room, although I'm not sure what kind of view facing the overpass counts as. Since the price was affordable, I felt the experience was okay. Let's talk about the pros: the concierge service was good, they were enthusiastic and helpful; the room was large and the facilities were well-maintained; both the fitness center and the swimming pool were large. But actually, as a business hotel, there really aren't any other standout features. If there's any chance I would stay again, it would only be because of the price factor, a high cost-performance ratio. Considering the market price of 1000+ RMB, InterContinental Shanghai Jing'an doesn't seem to have much of an advantage. Having just had surgery on my hip and being new to China, this was an ideal hotel for my relaxing recovery. The facilities in the room were exceptional, and the hospitality was 1st class. My short stay was nothing short of fantastic, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Una. Throughout my stay, Una went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my experience was comfortable and enjoyable.
