Insadong Street is an interesting street not far from the main palace of Gyeongbokgung. Mostly pedestrianized, it features many unique cafes, bars, small shops, and tea houses, creating an eclectic and relaxed atmosphere. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll along the beautiful tree-lined streets. There are many alleys filled with restaurants that require time to explore. We enjoyed walking down this street and chatting with the locals. I recommend exploring the small side streets. That's where you'll find the best restaurants and shops.

#seoultrip Insa Dong was one of my favorite spots when touring Seoul and I'd high reccomend this lovely district that is an awesome hub of art, food and shopping. There is a balance between the old and new here, with old lanes and new contemporary buildings. The shops here offer genuine variety of goods and styles, there are even little markets inside the older courtyards too. The array if dishes were exactly as we had hoped with all the Korean BBQ small places. Pork belly, pork neck, kimchi, meat pancakes, pink salt, mustard seeds, wasabi and so much more. Insa Dong is a must visit, especially for a good day time lunch restaurant

Highly recommended to eat Naengmyeon (Korean cold buckwheat noodles), mandu (dumplings), grilled pork on a stick, pancakes, and waffle ice cream. There are many variations of Mandu. Depending on the filling ingredients, they are called gogi mandu (meat as the main ingredient in the filling), yachae mandu (vegetables), saewu mandu (shrimp), kimchi mandu, and so on. Interestingly, Koreans not only eat cold noodles in summer but also during autumn and winter. Hotteok (Korean Sweet Pancakes) is a popular Korean street food made from a simple yeast dough with a sweet syrupy filling made with brown sugar, cinnamon and walnuts. They were introduced by Chinese immigrants in the early 1900s in Korea. It is a must to eat Hotteok in Insa-dong. The outside was crispy and the inside was soft and fluffy, and had a special fragrance. It was so delicious! This tasty snack is great to have on a cold day. The stall is easy to spot on Insadong-gil at Insadong 4-gil. It is usually crowded with people waiting patiently in line. The hotteok cost only 1,000 won or SGD1. Rating: 5/5

I would like to introduce the popular restaurant "봉이밥 (Bongibap)" in Insadong, Seoul, Korea. There are several branches in Korea, and the one I visited is at 15 Nakwon-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. The restaurant is self-ordering, and you pay at the counter at the end. The main features of this restaurant are [보리밥 (barley rice)], [떡갈비 (beef cake)], and [동동주 (dongdong wine)]. I recommend not eating anything before the meal and visiting on an empty stomach because the portions are really generous! 🔸️ [보리밥 (barley rice)] is eaten by mixing various namul, gochujang, and sesame oil on top of barley rice. It is eaten in a similar way to bibimbap, but while bibimbap is served with the ingredients and rice together, barley rice is served with rice and namul separately. 🔸️There are five [떡갈비 (beef cake)] in total, and they are quite filling. When you bite into them, the meat juice overflows and they have a sweet taste. [동동주 (Dongdongju)] is named after the many rice grains floating on top of the alcohol. If you are not a big fan of alcohol or just want to try a little, try ordering [동동주잔 (a glass of Dongdongju)]. Drinking a hot bowl of Samgyetang in the cold wind of Seoul is really heartwarming! The uncle of this restaurant is very funny and doesn't seem to understand English. When we entered the restaurant, he was busy in the kitchen in silence, but we hadn't ordered yet. There were three menus on the wall. After a while, he brought the Samgyetang. When we tried to ask for an extra potato pancake, he said they didn't have any more, making us laugh that they only had Samgyetang. The taste was really great and warmed both our body and soul.
