Tokyo Showa Kinen Park-Golden ginkgo trees interweave into a golden tunnel
Tokyo's Showa Kinen Park is an ideal place to admire ginkgo trees, especially in autumn when their leaves turn golden yellow, creating a spectacular sight. There are two main ginkgo avenues in the park. As soon as you enter the park, you can see rows of golden ginkgo trees interwoven into a golden tunnel. The ginkgo trees on both sides shine golden in the sun, attracting many tourists to take photos.
The best viewing period is from early to late November every year. During this period, the leaves of the ginkgo trees will gradually turn yellow and form a golden carpet on the ground, making people feel as if they are in a fairy tale world. In addition to ginkgo, the park also has other autumn flowers and a beautiful Japanese garden, where visitors can take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the beautiful autumn time.
Showa Kinen Park is easily accessible, and is approximately a 10-minute walk from Tachikawa Station.

Attractions: National Government Showa Memorial Park
📍Address: 3173 Midori-cho, Tachikawa City, Tokyo
🕰️Business hours: 9:30~17:00 (until 18:00 on Saturdays)
💰Average consumption per person: ¥450
💞Recommendation reason:
"#National Government Showa Memorial Park" was built in 1983 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's accession to the throne. Located in Tachikawa City, it covers an area of 160 hectares, an area equivalent to 40 Tokyo Domes, and has different beautiful scenery in each season. In addition to the natural beauty, there are also recreational facilities such as children's play equipment, swimming pools, bicycle paths, boats, barbecue areas, etc.
Transportation Tips: The route with the fewest transfers is to take the Chuo Rapid Line from JR Shinjuku Station. It takes 34 minutes to reach JR Nishi-Tachikawa Station, which is connected to the park entrance, Nishi-Tachikawa Exit, by an overpass. If you get off at JR Tachikawa Station, you will need to walk about 15 minutes to reach the Akebono Exit of the park.
Entering Tachikawaguchi, you will soon arrive at the CANAL area, where ginkgo trees are planted symmetrically on both sides of the fountain. About 200 meters long. The yellow ginkgo leaves covering the road look like a golden carpet, dreamy and magical. Every year, the lights are turned on from dusk, presenting a beautiful view that is different from the daytime.

When you come to Tokyo to enjoy ginkgo viewing in autumn, it takes about 30 minutes from Shinjuku. The "National Showa Memorial Park" in Tachikawa is also a must-see attraction.
It is a beautiful scenery like a ginkgo tunnel. There are about 98 ginkgo trees. The total length is about 300m. It is late November, and there are fallen leaves of ginkgo. Just like the cover of a travel magazine🌟🌟🤩🤩

Mazesoba Tori (¥ 750)
A shop in Tachikawa, a fierce battlefield for ramen 🍜 You can choose from 4 types of standard Namazesoba (chicken oil, shrimp oil, sardines / dried sardines, and special chili oil).
This time is the most popular chicken! Maybe it's chicken oil, but it's surprisingly light, but it's rich and very delicious 🐓 The thick noodles are perfect, so it's excellent to eat. It's nice to be able to eat a lot of vegetables and meat while mixing soba 🥬 If you continue to eat as it is, you will probably get tired of it, so you should change the taste! The taste-changing items on the table are rich in standard chili oil, garlic, sesame seeds, chin sprinkle, kabosu & yuzu pepper, so you won't get tired of it!
This is addictive 💊 I want to eat again soon!

【Tachikawa National Showa Memorial Park】#Family-friendly place
[Tachikawa State-owned Showa Memorial Park]
#I miss Japanese parks – Japanese parks are mostly big and planned, with lots of rides and big gardens.
One of the parks I visit often is the Tachikawa State-owned Showa Memorial Park.
This park is about a 30-minute drive from Tokyo and has bike paths for cycling, lakes for boating, rides for kids, and in the summer, you can play in the water
The large flower field has different flowers in all seasons. There is a large grassland and a very large tree in the center of the park
While going shopping in Tokyo, you might as well find a half day to go to the park and get close to nature.

Showa Memorial Park (昭和記念公園)
Showa Memorial Park is one of the most breathtaking cherry blossom locations in Tokyo, offering a vast and beautifully landscaped space filled with over 1,500 sakura trees. Located in Tachikawa, this park is a bit farther from central Tokyo but well worth the trip. The park is massive, featuring lakes, cycling paths, flower fields, and even a Japanese garden, making it a perfect destination for a full-day hanami experience. During cherry blossom season, visitors can enjoy picnicking under the trees, renting bicycles to explore the park, or taking a relaxing boat ride. The variety of cherry trees ensures a longer bloom period compared to other spots. While it can get busy on weekends, the park’s size ensures you can always find a peaceful spot. If you're looking for a scenic, family-friendly, and activity-filled hanami experience, Showa Memorial Park is one of the best places to visit.

Family and friends, if you're looking for a nature getaway near Tokyo, Showa Kinen Park is definitely the top choice!
In spring, the park is like a sea of flowers. Cherry blossoms bloom like pink mist, and colorful tulips compete to show off their beauty. Every snapshot is a masterpiece. Lay down a picnic mat, enjoy delicious food amidst the floral fragrance, and relax in leisure.
In summer, the park is enveloped in lush greenery. Cool off by the lake, watch the sunlight sparkle on the water, or rent a bike and ride through the forest paths, feeling the breeze on your face.
In autumn, the park dons a new attire of golden and fiery red. Stroll along the leaf-strewn paths, listening to the rustling underfoot, like a unique autumn symphony.
In winter, the park's lights illuminate the cold nights. The dazzling lights outline various shapes, creating a dreamy and romantic atmosphere.

I visited
I visited Showa Memorial Park on November 29th. It was about half an hour from Shinjuku Station, which was very convenient. The park is very large and you can spend a whole day walking and strolling here. There are many food and beverage outlets inside, but the prices are high and the taste is average, so it is recommended that you bring your own food for a picnic. The maple leaf season is very beautiful, and because of its vast territory, there won’t be many people. The temperature here is slightly lower than in the city. Most of the ginkgo leaves have fallen, and the maple leaves are red. The maple leaves here are not a large area of maple trees, but rather scattered, but many of them are large, so you can enjoy the tranquility of the park. There is a bicycle path, and many people come to visit the park by bicycle.

The fall leaves in Tokyo are so beautiful!
The Showa Memorial Park is a relatively niche place to enjoy flowers and scenery in Tokyo, Japan. Although it is not well-known, it is very large, with many plants and flowers, making it perfect for taking photos. The Showa Memorial Park spans Tachikawa City and Akishima City in Tokyo. It opened in 1983 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Showa's reign.
⛰️Attraction tips:
You can explore along the main roads and paths of the park. The Showa Memorial Park has facilities such as a rainbow pool, children's forest, Japanese garden, Sunagawa Gate, and bonsai garden, which are great for viewing and taking photos. There are also ponds, bird sanctuaries, and more.
🚗Transportation and accommodation:
If you are departing from Shinjuku, take the JR Ome Line to Nishi-Tachikawa Station (connected by a pedestrian bridge, about a 2-minute walk to Nishi-Tachikawa Gate) or Higashi-Nakagami Station (about a 10-minute walk to Akishima Gate) for the fastest route. Take the JR Chuo Line Rapid or JN Nambu Line to Tachikawa Station, and walk about 10 minutes to Akebono Gate. You can also walk about 15 minutes to the front of Tachikawa Gate.
🍜Food recommendations:
There is a lakeside restaurant and a sales center in the park. There are also restaurants near the station.
📌Tips:
In spring, you can see camellias and daffodils, and the night cherry blossoms are famous.
In summer, you can see hydrangeas and sunflowers, and there is also a fireworks festival.
In autumn, you can see beautiful ginkgo trees.
In winter, the Christmas lights and champagne glass trees create dreamy photos.

[Tachikawa] If you want to eat pho, this is the place! Recommended on the way back from Showa Memorial Park🍜🌟
Vietnamese cuisine at Vietnam Xin Chao Tachikawa South Exit. Opened in December 2023! Always full on weekends. The chicken pho is delicious, but the bun cha topped with fried spring rolls is the best recommendation. I was impressed when I ate it for the first time. I've eaten it 10 times already 😌 It's a taste that is easy to eat even for Japanese people.
Showa Memorial Park is sure to be the best time to see the autumn leaves this weekend, so be sure to stop by on your way home!! You can also make a reservation from Tabelog ✍🏻 There are many Vietnamese customers in the restaurant, and you can feel like you're not in Japan... 🇻🇳
📌 There are also courses! [Vietnamese food stall course with pho and street-style grilled pork, dessert and all-you-can-drink (minimum 3 people)] ・Fresh spring rolls ・Fried spring rolls ・Papaya salad ・Vietnamese food stall-style grilled pork ・One of pho (beef or chicken) or bun bo hue (pho with vinegar and chili pepper) ・Banh xeo (Vietnamese-style okonomiyaki) ・Vietnamese-style zenzai + course and 2 hours all-you-can-drink ¥3,000 (too cheap 😳) + course and 3 hours all-you-can-drink ¥3,500
Reservations are accepted for 3 people or more. I was surprised at how good the deal was...
⚠️The above course + roast duck + stir-fried Chinese spinach and garlic with 2 hours of all-you-can-drink is ¥4,500

Recommended attraction: Showa Memorial Park - autumn leaves and natural beauty
#Tokyo Attractions
Location: Tachikawa City, Tokyo
Showa Kinen Park is a popular tourist attraction near Tokyo. Every autumn, the leaves of the ginkgo trees here turn golden yellow, and the scenery is quite charming. Especially the Yellow Leaf Avenue, the long tree-lined avenue is lined with ginkgo trees. Walking on this road, it feels as if you are surrounded by yellow leaves, and the scenery is very romantic.
🍂 Yellow Leaf Avenue
The ginkgo trees here are very tall. In autumn, their golden leaves fall like rain, creating a special atmosphere when walking among them. The yellow leaves here are at their most spectacular in mid-November every year, making it a favorite for photography enthusiasts and walkers.
🌳 Park environment
In addition to the yellow leaves, there are many other natural landscapes in Showa Kinen Park. Different areas have different styles, from lush green lawns to quiet lakes, which are suitable for walking or picnics.
🎟️ Transportation and advice
It is about a 10-minute walk from JR Tachikawa Station and the ticket price is about 450 yen. Autumn is the best time to visit here. It is recommended to avoid the peak hours at noon and enjoy the tranquility of early morning or dusk.

Tokyo | Autumn foliage spots easily accessible from the city center 🍁
Did you know that you can get to such a wonderful place in just 30 minutes from the city center (Shinjuku)?
The National Showa Memorial Park is easily accessible by train!
And Showa Memorial Park is about 180 hectares in size (the size of 39 Tokyo Domes), so it's perfect for a day out.
The vast grounds have a wide lawn, gardens, ponds, playgrounds, and more, providing a variety of spaces to enjoy nature.
It's great for strolling, picnics, and sports, but if you go in the fall, you should definitely enjoy the autumn leaves.
From early to mid-November, the maples and ginkgo trees are dyed in beautiful colors, creating a vivid landscape in the park...♡
And since it's not just one place, the crowds are spread out to some extent◎
Events are often held there too.
My favorite spot is the ginkgo tunnel.
The fallen leaves and the rows of ginkgo trees create a world of yellow, and it's truly a spectacular sight! ︎

Sunflowers 🌻 in Tokyo
#traveldiaries
Sunflowers 🌻 in Tokyo? Yes, you can view the beautiful sunflowers at the Tachikawa Showa Kinen Park. The lone white door in the midst of the sunflowers reminds me of a Japanese anime movie and attracted some of the visitors including myself to take photos. There are also a lot of other flowers blooming in the 160 hectares park.
Tachikawa Showa Kinen Park is also where you can enjoy the fireworks in summer. There are lots of people who came early to get a spot in the spacious open field to view the fireworks. The fireworks is really very pretty 😍 and overall a very good experience.
