The Yilong Firecracker Factory, which was one of the eight major firecracker factories in Macau, was closed in the early 1980s. The Firecracker Factory is located on the west side of Shi Du Xianzheng Street in Taipa, covering an area of more than 20,000 square meters. According to records, the firecracker factory at that time was like a village. The factory not only raised pigs and cattle, but also raised pigeons and planted fruit trees.

Visit the remains of Yilong Fireworks Factory
#Local Tour
The Yilong Fireworks Factory was abandoned because the firework industry withdrew from the historical stage, but the remains of the former glory of the industry were left behind. Now the old site of the firework factory has been rebuilt. The total length is about 400 meters. It is built with the continuation of historical memory as the guide line and combined with the environmental characteristics, allowing the public to experience the natural beauty of the symbiosis of historical buildings and trees.
In order to enrich the cultural, tourism and leisure experience, the “Echoes of Gunpowder – History of Macao’s Fireworks Industry Exhibition” and the cultural and creative gift shop in the park are also open to the public.
Along the way into the firecracker factory, you can see the pulping area, waterways, ponds, cannon-drilling rooms and warehouses of the firecracker factory. Each site also has a detailed explanation. You can use the guide system to watch the video of the firecracker production and production process at that time, so that the public can discover the cultural heritage of the park when they set foot on the trail. There is also a small boat docked in the pond.
The trail is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily
It is said that the park will continue to add interactive facilities to enrich the visiting experience. It is true that the park facilities still need to be supplemented for the time being, and the past bits and pieces are not enough, but the overall revitalization project has experienced the cultural heritage and is a worthwhile attraction. 👍👍👍

Check in at Macau's popular tourist spot: the former site of Yilong Fireworks Factory
#MacauAttractions
The Macau Yilong Fireworks Factory operated for nearly 60 years from its opening in 1925 to its complete cessation of production in 1984. It is the only remaining and relatively well-preserved firework industrial site in Macau, reflecting the prosperity of Macau's traditional firework industry in the 20th century and serving as a witness to the development of Macau's modern industry. The historical buildings and original ecological landscape of the firecracker factory are preserved here, allowing tourists and the public to experience the natural beauty of the coexistence of historical buildings and trees.
The firecracker factory covered an area of more than 20,000 square meters. At that time, it not only raised pigs and cattle, but also pigeons, and planted fruit trees everywhere, just like a rural village. Now when you walk into the park, you can see the pulp and draw area, waterways, ponds, gun-drilling room and warehouse of the former firecracker factory along the way. There are many physical collections, historical photos, and paintings showing the process of firecracker production on display here. Some of the exhibits were provided by two people who were once involved in the heyday of the firecracker industry.
The park also has a cultural and creative gift shop, which displays and sells a variety of exquisite creative products designed with elements of the firecracker factory. It is a great place for a weekend leisure trip and a new internet celebrity check-in spot in Macau.

Taipa's "most explosive" attraction: A visit to the former firecracker factory
Yilong Firecracker Factory is located in the central area of Taipa. The Macau government officially opened the old site of Yilong Firecracker Factory on December 23, 2022. Therefore, the mystery behind the cannon factory that was separated by a wall when traveling to Macau was finally revealed.
Guided by the process of artillery making, the tour led me into the glorious artillery industry in Macau in the past. Some of the buildings of the artillery factory are still well preserved. You can explore the architectural style of Guangdong bungalows from the 1920s to the 1930s. The exhibition space displays the beautiful packaging of the Macau gun factory in that year, as well as a model of the workers' cannon-making process.
Prior to this, the industrial heritage of Macau's firecracker industry was rarely open. This visit gave me more experience and understanding of Macau's industrial history. Yilong Firecracker Factory is located near Guan Ye Street, which is perfect for strolling here after a full meal.
Recommended tour time: 0.5 hours to 1 hour. Transportation: Convenient transportation, you can take a bus from the Macau Peninsula to Taipa Guan Ye Street on foot.
There is a souvenir shop.
The facilities on site are mainly designed for barrier-free.

🇲🇴The old site of Macau Yilong Fireworks Factory
Macau's firecracker industry has developed rapidly since the 1920s. Several firecracker factories were established in Taipa, becoming a leading industry in Macau's industrial development at that time. As an important trade export, many Taipa residents engaged in firecracker production-related work during the heyday of the 1950s and 1970s
The former site of Yi Lung Firecracker Factory, which has a history of nearly 100 square meters, covers an area of about 20,000 square meters. Its old site still retains the layout and environment of the past. It is the only remaining and more complete firecracker industry site in Macau
There are tour trails, exhibition halls and cultural and creative gift shops in the park💫

Macau Fireworks Factory-Cultural Heritage
A new attraction was recently discovered and was completed late last year. Stone houses of different sizes can be seen along the way where firecracker factories used to make them. It used to be a river where cannons were transported by boats, however now the river is overgrown with grass. You can keep visiting along the bridge and feel the face of the firecracker factory. If you want to learn more, you can visit the firecracker exhibition hall here to learn about the process of making firecrackers and the history of the Yilong factory. The guide will take you around the factory site, introducing them while walking, so that you can feel more deeply. Unfortunately, it was raining during the visit that day, so I could only listen to it in the museum.
However, since his pavilion has not been open for a long time and the exhibits are relatively small, I believe he will introduce more exhibits and more elements in the future.
If you want to feel the other side of Macau, you can visit here!

Yilong Fireworks Factory | A historic industrial site in Macau
This time I went to Macau's long-standing Yilong Firecracker Factory, which is still a well-preserved industrial site. The trail is 400 meters. Along the way, you can see the pulp introduction area, waterway, pond, cannon room and warehouse
📍Address: Taipa Old Town
Business hours: 10:00-18:00
📮Store information: Yilong Firecracker Factory
——————————————————————
The old town of Taipa was once a fishing village and an important hub for the fireworks industry. There were once five pyrotechnics factories in Macau, which created a large number of jobs for local residents. It was not until 1980 that workers began to seek more lucrative jobs in pursuit of a safer working environment, and pyrotechnic production in Macau slowed down. The Yilong Firecracker Factory was established in 1925 and closed in 1984. It is the only remaining industrial site in Macau and remains intact today, witnessing the history of pyrotechnic manufacturing in the Old Town.
The trail is about 400 meters long, with historical memories as a guideline. Along the way, you can see the pulp introduction area of the firecracker factory, waterway, pond, chisel room and warehouse. The public can discover the cultural undertones of the park, feel the natural beauty of historic buildings and trees, and explore the various buildings throughout the revitalization area, including buildings bonded with fuses and crimped with firecrackers as well as warehouses, ponds and waterways. The entire Yilong Firecracker Factory covers an area of about 25,000 square meters.
The entrance to the revitalization area, which includes three restored buildings, is located next to the Pinetail Community Center. One of the three buildings is used as a visitor information center and souvenir shop, while the other is used as an exhibition hall to showcase the history of Macau’s firecracker industry and the Yilong Firecracker Factory. The remaining one is not yet open and will be used as a cafe.

Macau's 🇲🇴 newest attraction | Feels like walking in Angkor Wat
Wandering here is like being in Cambodia's Angkor Wat, like the Ta Prohm Temple in Tomb Raider, with tropical trees and vines spreading between abandoned buildings 🏠, standing tall like trees 🌲.
🧨Firecracker production used to be one of the three pillars of Macau's handicraft industry. The former Yilong Firecracker Factory covers a large area with two entrances. You can easily explore the entire attraction along the plank road. In addition to the naturally abandoned houses, there is also a factory building displaying the historical changes and production techniques of the firecracker factory, as well as various creative cultural and creative products.
This should be one of the newest attractions in Macau, located near Rua do Cunha and the Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, and in line with the surrounding natural and cultural attractions. Don't miss it when you come to Taipa!
