Emeryk Hutten-Czapski Palace in Krakow
The palace, built in 1884, was purchased by Emeryk Hutten-Czapski when he moved to Kraków. He was the vice-governor of St. Petersburg, and a passionate collector, bibliophile and numismatist. In the family estate of Stańków, he collected over 11 thousand. coins, medals, orders, banknotes and engravings and an extensive library.
The family donated the collection to the city on March 12, 1903. On July 18, 1904, the Czapski Museum became a branch of the National Museum.
After the general renovation was completed, on June 28, 2013, the National Museum in Krakow opened the European Center of Polish Numismatics [5] in the palace, which houses a collection of Polish coins, medals and banknotes as well as a collection of old prints and manuscripts.
