Historic buildings
Horyu Temple, also known as Ikaruga Temple, is located in Ikoma County, Nara Prefecture. It is said that it was built in 607 by Prince Shotoku, who is very acclaimed in Japanese history. It is an early world cultural heritage in Japan. The Western Garden Garan in the temple is a very old wooden structure building complex in the world. The temple also preserves a large number of Japanese national treasures and important cultural properties such as paintings, sculptures, and Buddha statues since the Asuka period. Horyu-ji Temple covers an area of about 19 hectares, divided into two courtyards, east and west, and is full of towering trees. In the east courtyard, there are buildings such as the Dream Palace, and in the west courtyard, there are wooden structures such as the golden hall, the five-story pagoda, the mountain gate, and the cloister. In front of Horyu-ji Temple, there is a long, tree-lined road. After arriving at the South Gate, enter the Horyu Temple from here, and continue to walk forward to the Middle Gate. The central gate is the original entrance of the Saiin Garan. Standing on the left and right are the Vajra Warriors built in the Nara period, which are very ancient statues in Japan. In order to protect the ruins, it has been forbidden to enter and exit here, you need to go around the southwest corner of the cloister and enter the west courtyard. On the east side of the west courtyard you will see the Golden Hall, and on the west side is the five-story pagoda.
