Almost free? A suite at the Neijiang Riverside Holiday Inn
On the 17th day of my 101-day trip around Sichuan, Yunnan, and Tibet, I set off from the Jinyuan Zhangfei International Hotel in the ancient city of Langzhong, Nanchong, and headed south to Neijiang City, where I checked into the Riverside Holiday Inn.
.
Neijiang is a hidden gem in southern Sichuan, and hotel prices are particularly cheap. This Holiday Inn not only has a great location with unbeatable river views, but you can also stay here for just 6,000 points (just over CNY 200) on weekdays. Diamond members also get breakfast, and if you have lounge access, you'll also get a CNY 60 meal voucher. I feel like the hotel didn't make any money off me.
.
The hotel is a standalone high-rise building with convenient parking at the entrance, making it self-drive friendly. The lobby is double-height, spacious, and bright, and I was upgraded to the best one-bedroom suite, which was very generous.
.
The suite I stayed in was on the 24th floor, a corner room with a floor area of 51 square meters. Although the suite doesn't have a direct river view due to the building structure, and the windows aren't large, I like to stay in large suites, so I was happy to accept it.
.
The layout is square, with a screen at the entrance to protect privacy. Due to limited space, there is no guest bathroom, but there is a separate cloakroom at the entrance that leads directly to the main bathroom. The luggage rack is spacious, and bathrobes are provided.
.
The hotel opened in 2019 and is still in good condition. The minibar is equipped with a full set of Chinese tea sets, tea bags, and six bottles of water. The mini fridge also has two free soft drinks, and the welcome fruit is plentiful, even more than some InterContinental hotels. There are also snacks on the bedside table. I can say that the benefits for high-tier members are very generous.
.
The living room doesn't have large windows, but the bright lights make it feel less dull. It is equipped with a sofa set and a standard desk.
.
The bedroom has floor-to-ceiling windows and a chaise longue, but no bench at the end of the bed. If you like a good view, a river view room is the best choice.
.
The bathroom has a bathtub, but it's small, with only a single basin and a wall-mounted toilet with a phone shelf.
.
The room was spotless, and the 51 square meters of space was used efficiently, making it a comfortable stay.
