Extremely difficult to book restaurant: Ishigakijima Hitoshi
I went to "Hitoshi" on Ishigaki Island. This izakaya is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy traditional local cuisine on Ishigaki Island. First of all, the atmosphere inside the restaurant was very homey and I was enveloped in the warm atmosphere of the island. They are proud of their dishes made with fresh seafood delivered by local fishermen, and I was able to taste seafood in particular.
The menu was extensive, with a wide variety of options, including local island dishes, fried foods, and sashimi. The deliciousness of the dishes made use of local ingredients was exceptional, and I was particularly impressed by the freshness and cooking method of the seafood. There was also a wide selection of local alcohol such as local sake and awamori, which went perfectly with the local ingredients.
The staff were also kind and carefully explained the local dishes and ingredients. The homey atmosphere and friendly service made the meal even more enjoyable.
There was also a food stall outside the restaurant, and it was bustling with local people at night. I enjoyed interacting with the locals and was able to experience the local culture of Ishigaki Island firsthand.
Overall, Hitoshi is a recommended restaurant for those who want to taste Ishigaki Island's local cuisine. The deliciousness of the local ingredients, the atmosphere, and the interaction with the local people provided a memorable dining experience.
I called about 200 times before I finally managed to get a reservation!
Mozuku tempura is a dish unique to Ishigaki Island, so I recommend you try it.
If you have the opportunity to go to Hitoshi, I recommend going to the main store.
