Lushan Romance.
The movie "Romance on Lushan Mountain" is said to be the first romance film in China and was one of the most popular movies among people in the 1950s and 1960s. The Lushan Theater still screens this movie today. Lushan is located in Lushan City, Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province, east of Poyang Lake and south of Tengwang Pavilion. Lushan has ten major attractions: 1. Sandie Spring: Waterfalls, streams, and bamboo forests. 2. Wulao Peak: Five peaks reaching the clouds, with roots in Poyang Lake. 3. Hanpo Pass: Misty clouds, mountains like indigo, and ink paintings. 4. Lulin Lake. 5. Jinxiu Valley. 6. Longshou Cliff. 7. Shimen Stream. 8. Xianren Cave. 9. Meilu: Song Meiling's villa. 10. Sanbao Tree. Lushan became famous in ancient times because of Li Bai's poem "Viewing the Waterfall on Lushan Mountain" and is now known for its pleasant climate. The average summer temperature is 16.9°C, and the annual average temperature is 15–20°C. Lushan is a political mountain where important meetings of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China were held at different times. It was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1996. Best time to visit: spring, summer, and fall. Tickets: CNY 160 for adults, CNY 80 for children. Open all day.

Lushan Travel Guide: A Journey to Wonderland.
Step into the cloud-covered and picturesque Lushan Mountain for a magical journey!🏞️✨
📍First Impression of Lushan
Lushan Mountain, a famous mountain in Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, has been a favorite of literati and writers since ancient times. It is famous for its beautiful mountains and rivers, as well as its rich history and culture. It is like a flowing landscape painting, waiting for us to savor it carefully.🖌️🏞️
🕒Best Travel Time
Lushan has four distinct seasons, but the best time to travel is undoubtedly in the summer. From June to September, Lushan is as cool as spring, making it a paradise for summer vacation. At this time, the Sandie Spring waterfall plunges down, and the clouds and mist surround it, as if you have stepped into a wonderland.🌧️🌈
🚗Transportation Guide
To get to Lushan, you can take a train or plane to Jiujiang City, and then transfer to a bus or private car to Lushan Scenic Area.
🏞️Must-See Attractions
Sandie Spring: This is one of the most famous waterfalls in Lushan. It falls in three stages, like silk, and is breathtakingly beautiful. Standing in front of the waterfall, you can feel the coolness of the water droplets, as if all your troubles have gone away.💦✨
Huajing and Ruqin Lake: Stroll along Huajing, with lush trees and colorful flowers on both sides, and the air is filled with a faint fragrance. Ruqin Lake is like a bright mirror, reflecting the surrounding mountains, making people feel refreshed.🌸🏞️
Hanpokou: This is a great place to watch the sunrise. When the first ray of sunlight pierces through the clouds and illuminates the entire valley, the shock and beauty of that moment will surely stay with you forever.🌅🙌
Meilu: As a cultural landscape of Lushan, Meilu not only shows a side of China's modern history, but also has a unique architectural style and garden design. Walking in Meilu, it is as if you have traveled back to that turbulent era.🏡📖
Immortal Cave: Legend has it that the famous Tang Dynasty Taoist Lu Dongbin once practiced immortality here. The stalactites in the cave are of various shapes and mysterious. Standing at the entrance of the cave and looking into the distance, the cloud-covered mountains are faintly visible, like a wonderland.🧚♂️🌄
🍽️Food Experience
Speaking of Lushan's cuisine, Lushan tofu and roast pigeon are a must. Lushan tofu is known for its tenderness and deliciousness, while roast pigeon is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a fragrant aroma. In addition, local specialties such as stewed chicken with mushrooms and crystal shrimp are also worth trying.🍲🍗
💡Tips
Lushan has a large temperature difference, so remember to bring warm clothes.🧥
Comfortable shoes are very important, as the attractions in Lushan often require walking.👟
Bring enough drinking water and snacks in case of need.🥤🍪
Well, that's it for my Lushan travel guide! I hope you enjoy this wonderland-like land and create beautiful memories with me.💖🏞️✨

Two Days and Two Nights in Lushan
Planning to visit Lushan? Make sure to keep this guide handy! The Lushan Scenic Area is vast, and without a well-planned itinerary, you might miss out on many breathtaking views.
🚗Transportation
Departing from Shanghai Hongqiao at 12:50, you can arrive at Lushan Railway Station by 17:51. For the return trip, depart from Lushan Railway Station at 18:30 and you'll be back in Shanghai by 23:00.
After arriving at Lushan, you can take a bus for 10 yuan to the foot of the mountain. At the scenic area ticket office, tickets cost 160 yuan, the round-trip cable car is 120 yuan, and the sightseeing bus is 70 yuan. Then you can take the cable car up the mountain.
Once on the mountain, first, drop off your luggage and enjoy a delicious dinner. In the evening, you can stroll around the bustling night market on Guling Street, which has a permanent population of over 20,000, full of life. Or you can watch the classic movie "Romance on Lushan Mountain" at the Lushan Cinema, which only screens this movie. It was the first movie in New China to feature a kissing scene, albeit just a cheek kiss, but it caused quite a stir at the time.
🗺️Itinerary
The Lushan Scenic Area has three tour routes: the West Line, the East Line, and the Central Line.
Day 1: Let's explore the East Line first while we still have plenty of energy!
Hanpokou ➡️ Botanical Garden ➡️ Five Old Men Peak ➡️ Sandie Spring
Hanpokou is a great place to watch the sunrise, but remember to buy tickets at the sightseeing bus ticket office the day before or ask the friendly hotel owner to book a car for you. The climb to Five Old Men Peak is moderately difficult, earning 4 stars. If you're lucky, you might see a dreamy sea of clouds, and there's also the 1314-meter altitude monument, a must-visit for couples.
A special reminder: after visiting Five Old Men Peak, don't return the same way. Take a shortcut towards Sandie Spring Station, so you don't have to take the sightseeing bus again. They say "If you haven't been to Sandie Spring, you haven't been to Lushan." It's the core attraction of the Lushan Scenic Area.
Day 2: Explore the West Line, which is relatively flat.
Huajing ➡️ Bai Juyi's Cottage ➡️ Immortal's Cave ➡️ Great Heavenly Pool ➡️ Dragon Head Cliff ➡️ Suspension Bridge ➡️ Power Station Dam
Take the sightseeing bus to tour the West Line, which can be done in half a day. If time permits, you can also visit cultural sites like museums and historical sites.
A few tips: There's a path from the Suspension Bridge to Shimen Stream, but note that this attraction is outside the Lushan Scenic Area and requires an additional fee. Personally, I find the West Line attractions to be average, but it's nice to stroll in the forest oxygen bar, breathe fresh air, and give your lungs a deep cleanse.
Also, Li Bai's famous poem "The waterfall plunges three thousand feet" refers to a waterfall in Xiufeng Park, which is not on our itinerary this time!
I think Lushan is particularly suitable for a short family vacation. With sightseeing buses between attractions, you don't have to walk much, saving your energy to fully appreciate the scenic beauty. Moreover, the infrastructure in Guling Town is excellent, fully meeting daily needs.
🏨Accommodation
Staying on Guling Street is a great choice, with both hotels and guesthouses available. The owner of the guesthouse I stayed at was super nice, not only carefully drawing our tour route but also upgrading our room for free. So considerate!
🍜Food
Stone ear and stone fish, Lushan stone chicken, clay pot soup, stone fish with eggs, and chestnut powder snacks are all recommended to try.

Lushan, a breathtakingly beautiful retreat for escaping the summer heat
Taking my parents and others, we embarked on a leisurely summer getaway to Lushan. With no rush and considering my parents' health, we intentionally spread out some of the sights that could be seen in one day over two days. Lushan is not just a mountain; it's a town on the mountain with almost everything available.
We arrived at Jiujiang Station by train and took the cable car up to the town on Lushan. Our group of 10 chose a homestay, and transportation on the mountain was 70 yuan for unlimited rides to various attractions.
On the first day, after arriving in Lushan town in the morning, we started our tour in the afternoon with a drizzle, from the Flower Path, Bai Juyi's Thatched Cottage, Ruqin Lake, to the Flying Stone.
The second day, in the morning we visited the Great Heavenly Pool, Immortal's Cave, Tianxin Terrace, Round Buddha Hall, Imperial Stele Pavilion, and Sky Bridge. We returned to the homestay for a midday nap and rest. In the afternoon, we took a car to the Small Heavenly Pool, Hero Slope, and Wangjiang Pavilion.
On the third day, after the rain the day before, the Threefold Spring should be just right for viewing. With more than 3,000 steps and accompanying 9 elders over 60, we slowly spent the whole day playing, descending first and then ascending, which was quite exhausting, but the older generation was impressive.
On the fourth day, it was overcast, and we visited the Meilu area in the morning and the Five Old Peaks in the afternoon. Accompanied by mist, it felt even more like a 'fairyland,' and we were the only few people in the entire Five Old Peaks scenic area.
The fifth day, Lulin Lake, the Botanical Garden, Lushan Museum, and Hanpokou.
The sixth day, Sanbao Tree, Dragon Head Cliff, Shimenjian. Shimenjian has rafting, but it's directly down the mountain, so those who remain on the mountain can't participate.
In six days, we thoroughly enjoyed Lushan. Although there were a few sunny days, as long as one stayed in the shade, it immediately became cool. The reputation of this summer retreat is well-deserved.
