Start your day early to catch the breathtaking sunrise at Angkor Wat—the temple’s silhouette rising against a misty sky is pure wonder. Head there by 5 AM for a prime viewing spot. After sunrise, explore the Angkor Wat complex and marvel at intricate carvings and vast corridors. Don’t forget to snap shots of the central towers; the reflective pool is the classic insta-worthy angle!
Next, wander over to Ta Prohm Temple (07:30–17:30), where ancient trees embrace centuries-old ruins. The roots winding through crumbling walls make for mesmerizing photos—early morning or late afternoon light gives a dramatic vibe. Continue to the Hall of a Thousand Gods (CV68+XFR, 05:00–17:30), wandering among countless serene Buddhas in a quiet, sacred setting. Another must-stop: Bayon, with its famous enigmatic carved faces—smile back at them for a quirky travel snap!
Detour out to Angkor Silk Farm (NR6, Puok), where you’ll witness traditional weaving and learn about silk production. It’s an interactive and colorful experience; the lush outdoor landscape offers tranquil photo spots with local trees and architecture.
On your last day, spend time in a famed Cambodia café, soaking in local vibes, sipping aromatic coffee, and watching rainy clouds roll past. A perfect slow-travel moment to wrap up your adventure.

🕉️ Uncover Angkor Wat’s Hidden Secret: The Hall of a Thousand Gods 🛕
#summervacay
Tucked in the western gallery of Angkor Wat’s second enclosure lies Preah Poan, famously known as the Hall of a Thousand Gods. This black cruciform cloister once housed countless Buddha statues left by pilgrims—the name isn’t exaggeration. Most have been moved for preservation, but the sacred remnants here still whisper centuries of devotion.
Once filled with carved statues, the hall’s atmosphere is both serene and haunting—a quiet pause within the temple’s grandeur, ideal for contemplative worship or a reflective photo stop.
🎯 Insider Tips:
Go early when the morning light filters softly into the cloister.
Look up: the mystical carvings and faded pigments trace back to the 12th–16th centuries.

Angkor Wat Day Trip From Phnom Penh, Here Is how To do it! It’s Possible!
If you’re a solo traveller and want to do Angkor Wat but don’t have much time, try a day trip from Phnom Penh. It’s easier than you expect!
Air Asia now fly daily domestic flights between Phnom Penh and the new airport in Siem Reap and it’s great for making a quick trip to the wonder of the world. Air Cambodia also fly the route but they are obviously a lot more expensive!
I was worried about doing a few days on my own so I got the early morning flight and it took around 45 minutes. I then had a guide meet me at the airport, take me to Angkor Wat and give me a tour of the main sites. We managed to get all the main areas and have a nice lunch, it’s definitely something that can take longer but one day is enough if you just want to experience it!
Then I got dropped into the center of Siem Reap and got the airport shuttle to the terminal, it took just under an hour. The airport is brand new and super efficient so you can get there just before your flight!
Im so glad I managed to do this, it isn’t the most ideal planning but if you only have a day this proves you can do it!
