Hai Rui Cultural Park
Hai Rui Cultural Park is located at Ruxian Road, Longhua Qiu Hai Avenue, Haikou City, Hainan Province. The park consists of Hai Gong Temple, Qingfeng Pavilion, Hai Rui Exhibition Hall, Yang Lian Xuan, and other parts.
Hai Rui, styled Ruxian, with the sobriquet Gangfeng, was a native of Qiongshan, Hainan. He was a famous incorruptible official during the Ming Dynasty. Hai Rui's life spanned the reigns of the Zhengde, Jiajing, Longqing, and Wanli emperors. During his tenure as an official, he implemented land measurement and tax equalization, repeatedly rectified wrongful cases, fought against corrupt officials, cracked down on local tyrants, dredged rivers, constructed water conservancy projects, advocated for the severe punishment of corrupt officials, prohibited bribery, and promoted the Single Whip Law. He also forced corrupt officials to return confiscated land to the people, earning him the nickname 'Hai Qingtian'.
